Why is it irresponsible to take a mental health day? I took one Friday myself. We just get one bucket of time off though.

Right.  Debba, I'm guessing you have PTO but are saving it for when the baby comes?  Mama needs tome time too and one day here and there might help to make a healthier, happier mama when baby comes.   :buttpat:

I'm exhausted.  When we were headed to bed last night we heard what sounded like the scariest thunder ever.  Turned out to be a huge old, dead tree trunk ripping off from its base and falling over, taking other trees with it.  It was pitch black out and we couldn't figure out if the trees making the noise were fully down or maybe halfway stuck on a canopy of other trees (they're all super tall).  So we took DD and dog down to the spare bedroom downstairs (this is a mountain house so the main/entry floor is upstairs) to sleep.  Which everyone managed to do but me.  :luvcoffee:

Because it leaves my coworkers in the lurch. Someone will have to cover my "job" for the day - we have 5 tasks that we rotate on, and one of the backups will have to do it for me. If I were a backup, I'd do it, but it's really hard for me to just say "Eh, fuck it, someone else can do my job for the day." We have sick time and vacation time. I could call in sick - enough people know I'm pregnant that no one would really blink - but it just seems like a shitty thing to do. Also, someone else in our department just had a baby, and she milked her sick time for all it was worth, and it left us all scrambling to cover for her. It left a really bad taste in people's mouths, and I don't want to do the same thing.

I'm SO glad the tree didn't fall on your house, diablita!!!

debba- you need DH to take Reid out for the day over the weekend (this would nver happen in my house, only the reverse happens, but nice to wish).

I am going to get fat doing nothing but sitting around for days waiting for a storm to come!

I will say this - DH has been GREAT the last few weeks. He took Reid 2 weekends in a row and most nights so I could get my final projects done for my class. He's really stepped up since the doctor put me on "couch potato" status and the exhaustion has kicked in. We've just been insanely busy. This was our first weekend with nothing going on since Labor Day. We're all exhausted and need a break.

That is good. My DH would not know what to do with DD even with major direction.  :eyeroll:

I think I am going to lose a few pounds in the next few days because my stomach is doing flip flops. Had to force myself to eat something for lunch while I can still enjoy hot food. I did make sure to get some fruit and healthy stuff for our provisions, like unsweetened applesauce cups (my new favorite snack since being on WW).

This is going to be the longest day (and night)!

Good luck, cgraz!!!

And meri, yeah, he's been great. The problem is that Reid totally knows how to push DH's buttons, and does. And DH reacts every.single.time.  :eyeroll:

Make your own applesauce- it's so easy and sooooooo much tastier than what you get in those cups.

I've done that before - just haven't had time this year. You need so many apples! I remember how much it cooks down. But that's a good reminder. Maybe a post-hurricane project.  :P

Meanwhile, Musselman's unsweetened will do in a pinch (or an evacuation)!

cgraz-- hang in there!!!!!

debba- oh DH cannot handle DD's 3 year old ways and has little patience and they push each others buttons. Like last night they had a big fight because she wanted to wear her tutu and he said it was too cold, so i was like, um, just make her put it over pants and a shirt. Duh. He does not think that way. I say no when things are ridiculous from her, but generally i work with her requests, cause she is just 3 and not out to get us. If she wanted to wear her ballerina outfit, i would not have blinked an eye and made her wear tights or pants and a shirt under it. Duh. But instead they had this huge fight upstairs  :eyeroll:

DH got shitty with Reid the other day because Reid didn't take the frozen waffles out of the box "the right way." He just dumped them on the counter, and DH was like, "Why does he do it like that? Why does he always have to make a mess??"

A. They're FROZEN. It's not a mess. Good God.
B. Uh, he does it like that because that's how *I* do it.

But really, DH? You're going to get pissy over how Reid removes frozen waffles from a box? WHY CAN YOU NEVER READ THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT STUFF I GIVE YOU??? THIS! IS! NORMAL!!!!

It sounds like I'm fairly lucky in that DH will generally go with the flow when he's watching the kids.

Dev, we've had trees crashing down near us and it is SCARY!  So glad you all are safe.  Are you getting much snow yet?  We've just got lots of cold wind here.

We have done pretty good on the potty training front.  R has not had any accidents for going on 3 days now!  D was doing well but had 2 accidents this morning...just too engrossed with tv.  But he always feels guilty about it and I make him help tidy it up.

Over the weekend we went to a pumpkin patch/farm which they loved.  We've been carving pumpkins this morning...well, I have.  I love roasted pumpkin seeds.  DH & I went on a 2.5 mile run during their nap, so I'm feeling pretty good after that.  DH & I spent some time just relaxing the other day and it was great.  Usually he is working or I am away at work, so it was good to just be together. :)

I need to finalize the kids' costumes this evening.

We bought fake pumpkins and scotch-taped googly eyes and construction paper noses/mouths on them. I'm lazy.
