Dinner was homemade pizza bagels.  I even made the bagels!  But we each ate only a half and the cheese was part-skim.  Grapes and a TJ's 100-calorie chocolate bar for dessert.  I'm hoping to start this week off a bit better.

was making the bagels hard? did you boil then bake them?

debba--

I did fine this weekend, hoping to continue the trend and hoping to wake up atleast 1 time this week for a 5:30am run. we will see. DD was up a lot last night, she woke up and would not go back to sleep. Stuffy nose, peed a couple times, tossed and turned. She is still asleep, an hour past when she normally wakes up. I am just letting her sleep. We are supposed to go to the children's museum today, we will see. I will pack my lunch, as they have "healthy" options, but the healthy options are still too high in calories for me. Definitely not your regular fast food by any means, but they have a pasta bar and a wood fire oven for pizza and paninis.

We went to my sister's for the weekend and had a great time, but man did I blow my points! I think I ate all my weekly points in one night. We went to a gastro pub that has amazing duck fat fries. And poutine. And charcuterie. And beer. Doh.

But I did run 4 miles on Saturday and felt great. And every day is a new day, so it's just clean eating for the rest of the week!

Cgraz- that's a great way to put it in perspective!

Debba, you'll feel better about the splurge with the inlaws if this week is pretty descent. I usually toss/give away the cookie/chips immediately. Also, just consider the boxed lunch the big meal of the day and make dinner extra healthy. The boxed meals do not have to derail your week!

I am getting back on the "packing my lunch" bandwagon. Cut up veggies with yogurt dip and two hardboiled eggs. Oh and grapes.

Took zyrtec last night and this am is probably a 70% improvement. Better than nothing.

I think what frustrates me the most with the in-laws is that it's not even a good splurge - there's just nowhere they like to eat that's healthy. FIL *has* to get his bbq, and Mexican fixes. They don't want to deal with taking Reid out for dinner, and "don't want to bother us" with cooking, so we end up just getting carryout for a damn WEEK, and it's rarely worth it.

And you've lost your mind if you think I'm going to spend all day with high school kids - we're helping them fill out the state online common application for college - and *not* have a cookie. If I can't have wine, I'm eating the fucking cookie.

Ugh. Sorry debba- that doesn't sound like fun. I guess just do the best you can in terms of making good choices. It sucks so much when you feel like you're trapped into eating stuff that isn't "worth it".

P.S. I totally got between the preggo and her cookie, didn't I?  :panic:

Yeah, if I can't drink away my sorrows, I'm at least going to eat the cookie. :)

I'd offer to let my MIL cook for us - she loves it - but then we'd end up with something that tastes like cafeteria food, and Reid would refuse to touch it, and that would *totally* suck. I'm already dreading the look from my FIL when Reid doesn't behave properly at dinner. FIL seems to think that Reid is either 6 months old and completely incapable of doing anything himself, or 6 *years* old, and so should "know better."

And the house looks like shit because I'm supposed to be taking it easy.

I was looking forward to having some raspberries and realized that my DD ate them all yesterday.  Bummed.  At least we have pineapple but it's making my throat itch.

meri, for the bagels I boiled, then baked.  The rising steps were a lot of work (Rose Levy Beranbaum, always lots of steps) but not too bad.

That happened at our house this week too. Costco had a big container of them for $3.50, so they went in the cart. I went to costco saturday. They are all gone. :( They were yummy though!

And SB, my DH goes through the same thing.  And then later in the winter he'll have SAD bad.  He's like a plant; definitely doesn't do well without copious amounts of sunshine (or we'd be living in Vancouver right now).  Ireland is not for him, huh?

Hell no. My SAD lamp is a savior. When I didn't have it my sugar/fat swings were INSANE!! Total medication via food.

But now it is just a brief, but noticeable, change in tastes. It is much more manageable. And I feel much more sane.

I'm a complete SAD lamp evangelist. It saved my sanity and is a huge reason why I'm still here and married to my DH.

DH needs a SAD lamp!!!! I tell him that every year.

So i did good. We were at the children's museum and they had a special meal today-- falafel sliders! how good does that sound? well, good but high in calories (buns not pitas, etc), so i just ate what i brought and DD got pizza and i ate her crust :D

I need to get me one of those lamps. We get a lot of sunshine here, but I don't think it's enough to keep my mood from declining during the cooler months.

I just noted that I'm starting to feel a little down already. It usually hits in October. Oh look at the calendar. Right on time. :(

I've contemplated a SAD lamp before, too, but I don't think my cabin fever is quite bad enough to justify it.

Yesterday was a disaster. I was fine all day but then I was STARVING by the time we got home and I started dinner (which was pizza...). I snacked a bit while cooking dinner and then overate at dinner. Blerg.

This morning I had a slice of toast with a tsp each of pb and jam. I have greek yogurt & a smidge of jam for a morning snack. Salad + 2 hardboiled eggs for lunch. Grapes + 8 almonds for afternoon snack. Dinner out with my dad tonight.

I am trying to get back into the routine of eating at set times. If I do that, I'm not hungry between. But, my eating has been so eradic for the past 60 days that right now eating little bits frequently is making me much more food focussed than I have been.

Oh, and lots of dfw.

I took zyrtec for the second time last night. I woke up feeling a bit better initially but still really yucky today. Allergies or cold, I can't decide.

Going to shoot for a 2 mile run this afternoon. I'm trying to up my # of days without significantly upping my mileage, so I can get to 5 days of running wihtout injuring myself in the process. Yesterday was a planned rest day, and I needed it.
