Did okay yesterday and am hanging in there so far today. We're doing leftovers for dinner tonight. If I can avoid eating all the chili, I'll be good to go. The scale is inching back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, which is where I'd ideally like to maintain for a while. I gained a bit in NOLA and from some stress eating, and I swear I put on 5 pounds as soon as I got the second line on the pregnancy test. :eyeroll:

RA-- being starving come dinner prep time is a recipe for disaster, i totally know it!

Debba- hang in there!

MM-- happy birthday :) enjoy!

Ran today. DH set his alarm for 5:30am and then rolled over until 7  :grr: I am hoping, if i get some sleep tonight, to be the one waking at 5:30 and running. I have a mega dentist appt tomorrow and would like to get this in.

DH and I are going to try to cook mac and cheese one night when his parents are here. Since we're doing leftovers tonight, that bumps everything else we'd planned back a day. We'll see if his parents will let us get away with serving them just mac and cheese and a salad. FIL will probably not be terribly pleased.

I just have to say this to someone...

I used to track my calories on spark people. I still get their emails but they go to my junkmail box so I just ignore them, unless a topic catches my eye. Can I just say that they have the WORST writers at spark? They come up with interesting topics and then they butcher them. This is an excellent example:

http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=6_ways_to_combat_rising_food_costs

I love that they say that food costs are going to rise(!). Then, they go on to say that your gallon of milk is going up 10 cents... which is going to add up to a whopping $6.76/ a year. Really?

Then we get into their budget stretching tips...

Portion control, avoid prepared foods, eat less meat, avoid indivdually portioned foods, avoid waste.

Yeah, ok, thanks spark... I could never have puzzled that out on my own.  :eyeroll:

I think that site must be geared towards people who have NO CLUE what to eat or how to eat healthfully.

Since we are runners I bet we all tend to have at least a basic knowledge of nutrition.

Well, there is also a good chance they probably get people to write this stuff for free. You get what you pay for!

I think it's really true that they start with the very basicest of basics. That is probably appropriate based on what I've seen on the message boards. Seems like they could rotate some good info through too though!

I see a couple of you take Zyrtec at night.  Is there an advantage to taking it at night vs. firs thing in the morning?  Is it effective for you during the day?

I took it at night because the drowsiness tended to hit me in the first few hours after I took it. If I was already asleep during that, well.... no harm, no foul.

I take claritin at night and singulair in the morning. Singulair can cause sleepLESSness, LOL.

Is singulair prescription?

I take it at night because of the drowsiness. It does still seem to help during the day (24 hour dose). I usually take it about 8:30 and the benefits seem to wear off about 5pm or so.

Yes Singulair is prescription. I take it, with flonase as well, at really bad times for allergies. I have this pain in my face which the dr said teeth and the dentist said sinus and the flonase does help tremendously and i continue to use it as needed as no one will take ownership of my face pain :D When my allergies are not that bad, just claritin at night.

no morning run for me :( DD was up around midnight for awhile and then she was talking in her sleep, so i was up again, and then there was thunder, and next thing I knew it was almost 7am! LOL. Oh well. It is another rainy, cranky day and i am getting three teeth worked on at the dentist.

Ugh, good luck at the dentist, meri! Reid was mumbling in his sleep at some point last night, but I have no idea what he was saying. I was just glad he didn't wake up.

:skep: So, I think zyrtec was turning me into a bottomless pit. 2 days in a row, I took zyrtec, ate my normal food (that normally keeps me satisfied) was starving all day and then by about 5pm, was so hungry I just started shoving food into my face until I was stuffed to bursting. Not pretty, and not like me. Last night I stayed at a friend's house and forgot my zyrtec. Today? Happy and satisfied all day and not constantly thinking about food/the next thing I can eat/the cand dish/stopping on my way home to pick up a tasty treat, etc, etc, etc.  :skep: Weird, right?

Also, feeling MUCH better today and starting to think maybe I've had a cold not allergies. Guess it doesn't particularly matter though!

yes!  I took Zyrtec on the morning of Yom Kippur and was suffering by 10 am.  I'm usually able to get to 3 or 4 pm before I feel really hungry.

So yesterday at lunch we were talking about yoga and my coworker didn't know what a sun salutation was so I went to show her....well I cannot do downward facing dog. My back starting shooting pain when I tried. I wonder if I should go to a dr.

I would take some NSAIDs and see how it feels tomorrow. Not much the dr can do besides maybe give you steroids.
