I had another bite of the zucchini bread and it is quite tasty! Must not eat it all :D

My spouse started doing the whole 30 thing so I did that with him as moral support and I dropped weight like crazy.  I find it hard to eat enough on that diet. 
I know I do feel better gluten and soy free.  I think oats and rice are ok but I am not really eating those now.  I am allergic to almonds so most paleo baking is out for me.

I actually eat very little of the paleo baking.  I made that bread as a trial to see how it would fit in, and it was like crack.  I have my odd little pancake recipe on Sunday mornings but that's it.  It just seems to work well for me to have guidelines and "no flour or flour like products" seems to help keep me out of trouble.

You've really got things under contol :bow2:.  But if you keep talking about how your problem is being too skinny, things are going to get ugly.  Trust me.  :)

I had wanted to add in the grains because I wanted to stop losing weight and had started running again.  Plus I wanted to see how I'd feel.  Bad idea!  Started dropping weight again the moment I took the grains away, so I'm trying to make sure I eat enough, just by eating more of what is already on the menu.  Trying to remember to put a T of coconut oil on my oatmeal, etc.


How about yams and potatoes, are those okay (I don't really understand the paleo/whole 30 rules). Are nuts and nut butters out? Otherwise, they are good runners food and make maintaining weight sadly easy.

Yes.  I just mean I am not hungry on this diet so I do not feel like eating more.    Probably why it works so well  :D  I make pancakes with eggs and bananas for long run/race mornings.  I eat sweet potatoes as well.

So I had an idea of a diagnosis for me and one of my colleagues and the RD that works with me all came up with the same diagnosis when i gave them just a list of symptoms. Hashimotos. Supposedly it does not always show up on blood work, and one of the first things to do is eliminate gluten. In 5 days I have not had any tummy issues, though my period is due end of next week and things seem to be worse with my period thru to ovulation, but not always. Also, my hands are not stiff in the morning. I was unable to really close them first thing in the morning. So interested to see how things continue and if it is a fluke or a trend in the right direction. The RD says it can take 6 months to get the gluten out of your system. I eat so little gluten compared to a standard american diet, but enough that i do eat some. It has atleast kept me from finishing DD's food :D

No.  After relying them for years (we're talking over a decade that I'd be worse without them, and that worse was asthma/rescue inhaler) I did not need them once I was on the Paleo diet.
Same here.  I have horrible allergies, and allergy induced asthma.  Been taking Zyrtec and singulair for over 10 years...and also have a slew of nasal spray and inhalers. Every year I would get at least major exacerbation of symptoms and have to take pred. Sucky!!  I also have suffered from ibd-constipation for at least 6 years. I have to drink citrucel every day, and sometimes miralax. MIserable bloating and just feeling bad.

So at the first of the year I read Primal Blueprint, and was very interested. I have been off all of the meds since March. I just don't need them. I no longer stuff from the ibd-c, no bloating and I feel pretty damn good.

Cecy has felt so much better since she stopped eating gluten.

I will say in 1 week, I have seen a huge improvement in my tummy. Hands are significantly less stiff as well.  :fingers: this is part of the solution.

thanks :) saw my BFF today at the race and she is super smart biologist (microbiologist) and i rattled off a list of my symptoms and she said Hashimotos too.

So it has been about one month. A lot of symptoms have improved, much to my surprise this quickly. I am less "tin man" like in the morning, though still having some joint discomfort, it is definitely better. Some of my skin stuff has cleared up, and this is really recent, like past few days, my stomach issues are 80% better and during my period when they are at their worst, they were markedly better, very much so. So I am going to keep continuing on this path. I keep meaning to call an endocrinologist, but seriously, my free time is so limited, i am hoping dietary changes are what i need for now.
