See, a high number then wouldn't have bothered me, really; I'd have been all, "Well, I'm nurturing another life within my own body."   8)

But now?  No excuse except my twin loves of dessert and beer, and the fact that I'm no longer training for marathons...   :'(

Can you request not to be weighed? I do.

My doctor doesn't make patients get on the scale.  In her experience, too many women skip physicals because they don't want to get weighed, so she takes that piece out.

I refuse to get weighed, but I have no weight to lose.  Getting weighed makes me feel like cattle.

My gynecologist always makes a comment about it, like "I do not understand why you don't want to get weighed."  My gen. practitioner never makes any comment, though.

I just discovered Morningstar Farms chickpea 'burgers' and they're SO good.  They are 3 WW points which is not bad and very filling.

Question:
I keep hearing that it's almost impossible to burn fat while your insulin levels are peaked.  (as in, directly after a meal)

It sounds true, is it?

It sounds really pseudosciency to me. This chick is a chiropracture and acupuncturist... that's where I stop reading. ;) She cites "recent research" but doesn't actually point to any of this recent research...etc.

I've been hearing about it over and over and over again.  That was just the first site that came up on a google search.

Here is a good article that I think talks about the concept (in relation to the zone diet)

http://escholarship.org/uc/item/9pg2j7wk

It seems as if it is a gross oversimplification...not 100% untrue but not correct either.

I was waiting for MM to come and give it the MM Science CheckTM:D

So the salty restaurant food thing was spot-on, apparently, and I'm more or less back where I started...which is good. Trouble is, I like salty restaurant food!

The funny thing is, I salt a lot at the table* and it doesn't seem to have that effect at all...so restaurant food must have a TON. Yikes.

*Although let it be noted that mr. cgraz and I have a raging debate about this, in which I assert that it allows me to enjoy the salt but actually use less overall, because I taste it more by using the salt at the table, versus using more in the cooking process, during which I do season, but use a modest amount of salt, generally. He does not buy that theory. Either way, I love me some salt.

I think leptin is an emerging area of research. So...

I lost 35 lbs eating 6 small meals a day. I still think a lot comes down to eating fewer calories...

Might be the MSG in addition to the salt in restaurant food.  They both make you retain water.

I think this is the reality behind a lot of things, like paleo and other special diets or ways of planning meals differently. They couple whatever the "gimmick" is with plain old sense like eating more veggies & fruit, less crap, and less overall. As long as it works for people, it's all good.  :)

Oh man days 3-5 I was a complete beast :skeered: it wasn't pretty at.all   :nono: Are you on there website? Lots of good info there and there was another blog called thefoodmakesthegirl that was great for recipe and weekly meal planning.  I also like paleomg.com however I think she has a few that are not WT approved.  Hang in there; maybe I'll join you over the next fe days,,,hmm!
