I have to admit (sheepishly) that I dropped several pounds in the first week after I gave up junk food and sodas. I was thrilled, but also appalled.

Well... a lot of that is going to be water weight when you think about how much sugar/salt/carbs you're walking away from.

Oh, I know. But I was also cutting a ridiculous amount of calories, too.

Want to know what is REALLY annoying? My own brother, same parents has been skinny his whole life. Like you can see his ribs skinny. His motto is there is no such thing as too much ice cream. And he doesn't work out besides Yoga anymore.  GRRRRRRRRR

Well I'm 55 and bro is 3 years older so I don't think he's getting fat anytime soon  :-\
He also only eats when he's hungry

So, I logged what would be a typical day for me today (really, truly) and I came in at about 1k calories. Sometimes I might have another snack, which would put me at 1100 or 1200. I do know this is on the low side. But... I also know there is variation in foods themselves and also that, though I try and be good about measuring- sometimes a little bit extra sneaks in. It does make me feel better to know that I am not somehow sneaking too many calories back into my normal diet.

So, there's that. But, then I wanted to know just how much damage I did last week as far as being splurgy went. That's the reall story, right? So... between the unplanned beers & mozz sticks earlier in the week and then 2 hard ciders saturday night... I ate about 1500 extra calories this week. So, assuming I didn't go over my 1200 calories/day any other days- that puts me at about 1400 calories/day which is just under where I would need to be to maintain at my height. And... there we have it. Mystery solved. That is probably about representative of the past several weeks, which explains why I've barely lost since the end of the WLC.

So, I guess I will just continue to hang out in this holding pattern until losing weight is once again more important than beers with friends. I'm not gonna say it wasn't worth it.

Oh...and... this week is gonna be another tough one. Dinner at this  amazing little local place planned on wednesday. Tomorrow night dd's class is doing some project that involves cooking dinner for the parents.  :skep: I don't want to go. I don't want to eat the food. I don't want this to be a splurge. The things we do for our kids, right?

Oh, in other news... I finally measured how tall I am today, for the first time as an adult. I am 5'4.5". A full 2.5" taller than I thought. So, I'm less chubby than I thought. Woohoo!

Ohhh, I want to be 2 inches taller too!  But, the last time I measured myself I was shorter than I thought....I don't want to know if I've shrunk anymore or not.

I made some 'healthy' cookies today.  They turned out OK, at least DH will eat them.  I'm just not a huge cookie eater (even though I've just had some oreos).  We took some chicken pasta bake over to see my newest niece this evening.  She slept the whole time we were there except maybe 10 minutes before we left.  Still it was fun holding a fresh baby again.

Busy day planned for tomorrow.  The twins have their 2 year well child visit and shots in the morning. :nono:  With their current crazy antics I just know it will be exhausting.  Then I'm hoping to get a run in during their nap, or have a nap myself.  I also want to do more baking - I've become obsessed.

It's funny because my mom seemed much shorter than I remember. But, maybe I've grown since I last saw her (I was 21 or 22). The first thing she did was ask me how tall she was, then tell me she was shrinking.  :skep: She is now 5'5" so just a little taller than me. My whole life she always said she was 5'7".

Still got the squirts, which is making me feel hungry/thirsty/draggy.  And I woke up this morning to discover that only 2 weeks after the last one, my period started this morning.   >:(  Getting old sucks.  I'm really going to have to push to get to my goal weight before menopause kicks in, because I'm pretty certain my metabolism's gonna plummet.

Didn't do zumba last night because DH was still sleeping, getting ready for his first day 10-6.  He got home about 6:45 this morning and was asleep before I left for work.  So I'm hoping he'll be up and out of the way by the time I get home or I'll have to get another tv for downstairs and hook the wii up to it.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

She's an awful, awful human being.

Fiber cereal with a bit of granola topped with vanilla soymilk, and a side of prunes for breakfast.  (sorry Mini, don't think too hard about this breakfast)   In 2.5 more pounds, I'll be down 10 from when I started in late Jan.

Went out for dinner last night and I enjoyed every last damn bite of that macaroni and cheese I had. Was it the "best" choice? No, but that restaurant's mac and cheese is to die for and I don't get it very often. And since Reid wasn't there, trying to steal my food, I got to savor it, and I did. Mmmmm.... carbs and dairy.

Gym tonight. Also have to go to the grocery store after work because there's nothing to eat at the house right now. Having to go to the gym after will keep me on track - no one wants me to barf on the gym floor, least of all me. I'll be setting two alarms tonight so I can get up in the morning and run. I'm seriously tired of being lazy, but one alarm isn't cutting it. I need the terror that the second alarm is going to go off and wake up Reid to get me out of bed, I think.
