Meri, fries happen so don't beat yourself up.
Virtual smack upside the head for your hubby for doing that though.
Nadra, diet coke???? EEEEK diet soda is the devil.

I didn't weigh in this week because of change in work from home day but I think I am down a few tenths of a pound.
Have not been very good though, a new week of logging begins today. Hopefully I can get off this rollercoaster!

1 to the fries/Meri comment!

And you'll have to pry the devil out of my cold dead hands.  :D  There is so much more in my diet to work on, that I'm not giving up my diet soda.  I have cut back,  but that is because I think the caffiene was keeping me up at night.  I just don't think it's that bad for you.

<---- Dumbass.  I made banana bread this afternoon as a treat for DH.  The smell is killing me.  I just ate a slice, to make sure it wasn't poisonous.  It was delicious.  Damn.

RA, I never get tired of bean soup.  I make it with black, white, and pink beans, jalapenos, diced tomatoes, onions, peppers, rice, and a bit of salazon Goya.  Sometimes add turkey keilbasa for a bit heartier soup.

You guys...  a slice of banana bread is not going to break you!!!  A whole loaf is another story...

I'm working on this in therapy.  No food is bad.  No single food is going to make us fat.  It's not realistic for most people to never eat "fun foods", and you know what NEVER helps?  Beating yourself up for it.  Guilt and shame do not lead to changes in behavior in this area...  maybe in the short term, but not in the long term.  Be kind to yourselves, you guys.  Please.   :heartbeat:

Please don't think this was meant to be a snarky or mean post...  I just see this group of amazing, wonderful women getting down on themselves and it makes me sad.

Whole wheat flour & margerine, brown sugar, eggs, walnuts, cranberries - YUM!!

And Courtney's right, it's still wholesome nutritious food.  A slice doesn't throw me off my plan for the day.   It's just that I'm really trying to eliminate grain and sugar and this has both!

THIS!! We have to learn to have something because we want it, eat a reasonable portion and be satisfied. Not eat the whole cake, pizza, box of donuts, half gallon of ice cream. rack of ribs etc because we feel like we are doing something bad and may never have it again.

That's just it, though - I honestly don't know if I'm capable of having a "reasonable" portion of cake, pizza, ice cream, candy, whatever - junk food. I really don't. It's like crack to me. I have a tiny bit and the next thing I know it's been three days and I've gained 5 pounds because I binge.

Blueberries are one of my favorites but they are so expensive!  Almost $5 for a little amount when my parents' blueberries produce more than anyone can eat.  I find it hard to get really nice fresh fruit & veggies but I did the other day and the twins ate them ALL very quickly.  They were good.

I've been keeping myself busy with the mixer and my new cast iron.  Banana crumb muffins were a couple days ago...yum.  Now I've got bread baking in the oven.  I have managed to keep my portion sizes limited.  I'm staying on top of my exercises too - running, abs & push ups.

RA - what about minestrone type soup?  I love it with some good aged parmesan cheese.

I definitely feel this way around certain foods...  but I'm also not even remotely willing to live a life where I can't ever have them.

So my therapist and I did a test this past year.  A couple of foods that I have always felt OUT OF CONTROL around are cheetos and ice cream.  So I literally told myself that these foods were ok.  And I scheduled in controlled times to eat them.  Like, portion controlled and on purpose.  Instead of buying a box of ice cream bars, I told myself that I could go get an ice cream cone from McDonalds any time I wanted.  And I purposefully bought tiny portion controlled bags of cheetos (snack size) to eat with sandwiches.  Amazingly, after experimenting with this and following thru with allowing myself to have these foods when i craved them, I no longer felt the desire to binge on them or eat them in secret.  Seriously.

And now when I feel myself being all "OMG I WANT TO EAT A BUCKET OF CHEETOS!" I literally tell myself that I can have them, and go prove it to myself with a portion controlled bag.

That's not to say that if there was a big giant bag in front of me, that I won't overeat on them.  But it stopped the behaviors that were really not helping me (buying a big bag, and eating as many as I could in the car on the way home from the store, or hiding how much I'd eaten from people, etc).

My therapist also just gave me a catalog with some really good, healthy resource type books...  If any of you are interested, I could post them here.  They have different sections.  Bulimia, anorexia, binge eating, body image...

If I'm being pushy about this stuff, tell me to shut it.

I don't think you are Courtney, it is totally not healthy to let a food control you. Damn it I am not going to let a carton of ice cream tell me what to do!!  :D
Seriously though.....there is something else at work here Deb.
I struggle with my binges too....albeit mine are not junk food usually. Still overeating is not normal.

PS....on my scale I am down another 1.4! making my total 21

Kale chips!  Made 'em this morning for the first time.  Delish, but what's the trick of not having some over-crisp, some still moist?  I tried to get the peices all about the same size, but I think I crowded the pan too much.

Dress fitting rescheduled to noon today because the tailor had a family emergency.  I'm nervous!

4 miles at 10 minute pace today, and I felt strong!

I'm less dense now, so I'm extra jiggly.  Any pro tips for that, short of surgery?

Hally that is awesome! Nice work!

I've never tried kale much less kale chips....it kinda frightens me like other types of greens do too.

I made banana & blueberry baked oatmeal for breakfast.  Yum.

Not sure of plans for the rest of today.  Hope y'all enjoy the weekend.

Jamers I have a similar issue....the weight is gone but the skin is still loose.  Its not too bad but I notice it.  I think more toning and strength exercises are the way to go but that is just my non expert guess.

Finally back down to my new low. Now, if I can keep it together for a few days, maybe a new # will show up on the scale.  ;)

My friends are all in SF for the weekend. I was supposed to go with them but procrastinated on tickets and they were suddenly $500. I guess that's probably a good thing weight-loss-wise. But, I'm kind of bummed.

I have a big tub of tiny kales that need to get eaten- maybe I'll make them into kale chips.

I pretty sure this is full of nonsense, but I like their general philosophy.  Jiggles are GOOD! They mean you've come a long way & are ready to go further
