I probably belong in the unhealthy eating thread. French fries and porter and cupcakes, oh my! Feeling a bit sick so I might skip dinner.

Meri - avocado chocolate pudding? What ??

My cold turned into a sinus infection. Thanks to drugs, I'm feeling better, but still. Gah. Hoping to get back to exercise tomorrow.

I fully intend to work out today. Just trying to decide if I want to bundle up and run outside or if I haul my butt to the gym.

I think I'll do the outdoor run. But I have to psych myself up a little for it...

That sounds delicious.  I ate some candies yesterday and way too many scallops but still down a pound.  Rest day today.

choc avocado pudding---

1 avocado + 1/4 c cocoa powder + 1/4 cup milk of choice + 1/4 cup agave (i guess honey if you have no agave?) + 1 tsp vanilla, blended together. It is super tasty!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think i had to add a little extra soy milk to get it to blend in the magic bullet. I used choc soy milk :D

Wow, that pudding sounds good!

We had ribs for dinner last night, and broccoli. Delish! My weigh in was fine this morning. Holding steady with the recent loss.  I did end up running yesterday, it rained lightly but was actually rather pleasant.
This morning I have step class, and then over to a friends to cut (get help) a few more pieces for a quilt I am attempting.

I am not sure what the food plan is for the day. I am not super hungry right now.

I was kind of disappointed by the scale today. I weigh daily, so it shouldn't be a big deal, but I've been on a slow and steady downward trend and then today I was inexplicably up two pounds. I stayed on plan yesterday and don't think I ate much salty stuff either.

I did NOT drink a lot of water yesterday, so that could be it. I'm sure the numbers will go back down in a day or two, but it's still disheartening.

I've had this nasty cold (or flu?) thing that got really bad Friday and Saturday.  I had to cancel on the 5k I was supposed to do with a friend.  I feel terrible about that, but I couldn't even walk the dogs around the block.  It really wiped me out.  Today I still slept in and also took a long nap, but I feel like I'm turning the corner.

My very sweet BF made us cauliflower and lentils for lunch, and will make salmon and asparagus for dinner.  I did have a single scoop of ice cream as a treat today, and boy did that hit the spot!  I was satisfied with the one scoop and totally ok with not getting a giant sundae full of candy bits, which is what I'd have wanted in the past.

So, my trainwrecky weekend is winding down. Friday night wasn't terrible. Saturday was pretty awful. In addition to the things I already mentioned, I ate most of the rest of the cupcake from earlier in the day, had 2 cans of fosters and 2 cheesey breadsticks for dinner. So... yeah... it was bad. Today wasn't great but wasn't horrible. Fruit and a mini muffing for brunch. I also had a bite of a donut. I made myself a veggie wrap when I got home and ate a 2 cup portion of soup. It's 6:30 now. I'm feeling a bit hungry. I may just eat some fiber one and granola for dinner followed by a buch of teal. Ready to get back on the program tomorrow!

RA, you get back on tomorrow and in two or three days, you'll feel virtuous again. I hope you enjoyed it! We have all this chocolate in the house. I know that one of these days, I'm just going to have to HAVE SOME.

I did enjoy it. Everything but the brunch today and calories wise it wasn't horrible.

Friday night was a cathartic 2 hour dinner with a friend followed by a 2 hour giggle fest after another friend joined us. Totally worth the two drinks and I'm ok with the hummus place.

Saturday a met up with a friend from middle school. We sat and talked over lunch and a beer for 2 hours. We toured a museum and then had a cupcake and talked some more. She is the SAHM of a 2 y/o that keeps her on her toes. She doesn't get out much without him and was ready for some indulgence. I couldn't just leave her on her own! ;)

Today wasn't terrible although I'm tempted to pour myself a glass of wine!

We've been watching a bit of River Cottage lately, and he did a vegetarian series which has been really interesting.  He went to a vegan dinner party and the hosts made a raw chocolate ganache tart which is kind of similar (but not) to your pudding. I am keen to give this a go sometime..

For the base

    300g pecans or almonds
1 tsp pink Himalayan salt, or any other good-quality salt
    200g medjool dates

For the filling

    4 medium sized ripe avocados
    150g virgin coconut oil
    2 vanilla pods, seeds only
    200g raw cacao powder
    Pinch of salt
300g coconut blossom sugar or agave nectar to taste

Method

In a food processor, blend the pecans or almonds (if possible, soak them for around 6 hours and then dehydrate them first. The soaking releases the enzyme inhibitors and makes them easier to digest.) Add the salt and medjool dates and blend until you have a ‘dough’, or until the mix forms a ball.

Press this mixture into the bottom of a mould. Cover in cling film and leave to harden in the freezer until you are ready to pour on the filling. I like to use a silicone mould. They are freezer safe and easy to get the tart out once it has set.

For the filling, blend everything together until smooth, then pour onto the base.

Set in the freezer for 1 hour, then it should be firm enough to slice up. Top with fresh berries, edible flowers, a dusting of cacao powder- whatever takes your fancy and looks pretty!

Not talking about what's on the scale.  In denial, pissed off.

I am finding cutting out grains and sugar much harder than I thought.  Weekdays it's no problem.  On the weekends I feel entitled to a chocolate, a cupcake, potato, graham crackers.  Most weekends I'm more active to offset it, but my husband was sick this weekend so we didn't do much.

So it's weekday life again - not entitled to treats, not entitled to be lazy.  My excuses are invalid.

Good morning everyone.

MIni, enjoy your coffee!  I am drinking mine with nf milk and a splash of vanilla soy.

My step class was killer yesterday! We ended up having meatless monday on Sunday. Homemade black beans and brown rice with an oz of cheddar.  It was good! I am having the same for lunch today. This morning I will run, actually in a few minutes I will head up to the 'mill. Oh, and I resigned up for HIIT! I am such a goob.  It starts tomorrow morning.  :panic:
If I don't show in here Weds am then you will know it killed me.

Mini, I feel your pain about the scale. I have been completely ON PLAN all month, have exercised almost every day, saw slow and steady progress all month. Then yesterday and today I was up both days, and now (according to the evil scale) have "lost" my progress from the last two weeks entirely. WTF.

I *know* in my head that the number on the scale is just one data point, and that the number will go back down if I stay on plan, but it pisses me off entirely. Drives me nuts.

I was wearing a pair of pants yesterday that was too small on me a few weeks ago, and I should focus on that instead of a stupid number on the scale. If I repeat that last sentence enough times I will possibly believe it, right?
