I am so with you, RA. I understand - fully - the power of too much food, even when it is too much gradually.

I think I have been having 1200-1600 a day for the past 3 months (and there were likely a few days I went either a bit under or over). I took a pic today and couldn't believe the difference from a fwe months ago!

Hallo, we need a before and after pic in this here thread!

I didn't take a true before pic because I didn't have a camera I could afford to break (but today's 'after' pic is in the other thread until I delete it)

this is the same for me. I am doing really well because it is sustainable.

My morning report..... Got up and did Jillian 30dlevel2 and Anintervals on my treadmill during pushups.
Breakfast was scrambled egg whites with spinach cheddar and salsa. ( my favorite)
Lunch is grilled chicken breast on lettuce w avocado black beans and salsa.

...now I will finish reading all the updates. !

I haven't done a progress pic in a while either. I might take this down.

This was actually about a month in. I didn't take a true before pic

(yes, that's my office bathroom- I don't own a full length mirror!)

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

She's an awful, awful human being.

I tend to trust Mini on these issues

I'm struggling with binge eating again. *sigh*

In the good news area, I've been consistent on my working out for at least a week now :)  Small victory!

Thanks everyone!

This weekend is going to be one, long, slow-mo, trainwreck. Dinner with a friend tonight. Lunch with a friend (then the museum!) tomorrow. I promised to help dd make cookies or cupcakes or something for her class this weekend. Sunday is a board meeting- so always lots of snacks and I'm sure we'll order pizza in. I could pack a lunch but I always feel so weird about hanging a flashing neon "diet" sign over my head. You know?

Nice job! I like your new hair style too!!

Thanks!!

In the last few days, it has primarily been a result of boredom combined with physical hunger (I went to the grocery store hungry, big mistake, and I know better).  The boredom is coming from having more time on my hands than I'm used to since I switched jobs (today is day 8 at the new place), which is certainly a good thing.  It's just a matter of me adjusting to it and making better use of the time, even if that is reading a book or something equally as fun.   When I get home from work, it's about an hour (at least) until the DH gets home, and I'm just not used to that much time by myself, without purpose.  So I need to make sure I don't get home in a state of hunger, or if I do, I need to have on hand something healthy, not a bag of frosted animal cookies (which I bought at the store when I was starving!).  I also need to get into more of a routine when I get home.  Read, start dinner, sew, workout, whatever is appropriate that day.  Practice, practice.  :)  I crave the time to myself, so it's just a matter of finding my rhythm.

Ok, help me pick m' poison! (remember, I'm a vegetarian)

Restaurant A: http://www.theflatirongrill.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/PDF-Dinner_Menu_december2011.pdf

Normally I get the roasted cauliflower side & a side of mashers (it's more than enough to share and still make 2 meals out of). Tonight I'd get the spinach salad (no bacon). Temptations: they have aMAZing desserts- I will be very, very tempted to order one. Also- they feature several of my very favorite local wines (which aren't frequently featured on restaurant menus, so I like to be supportive) AND they have a huge whiskey library. It will be very hard for me to not order a drink. On the flip side, this is a very local restaurant and not owned by a chain/corp and I really like to support good food, not chain owned, in my hometown.

Restaurant B: http://www.siprestaurant.com/food.html
We usually order a couple of small plates to share- usually the chips & dip (pita & hummus), the nuts & olives, and maybe something like the risotto. Or sometimes we split the ravioli of the day (last time it was cheese ravioli in a cream sauce :o). I'd be tempted to ask if they'd do the gnocchi veggie for me or eat an entire dish of the risotto myself (again,if they'll do it veggie. This is our local wine bar. They have a good, but expensive, wine list. But they have one of my favorite teas there so I am ok just ordering tea. The menu is ok. The desserts don't tempt me. This place is owned by a local chain. It feeds into the whole corporate-but-local thing that we have going on in my area that I hate (so hard to find little neighborhood type places).

Help! Rest B is better for my diet because I don't *love* their food. It's good... but not amazing. Rest A is probably going to be diet fail. But... much better for my soul. Hmmm but vs soul. How do I decide?

See, this is my conundrum.  I know that if I was more particular about what I ate, I'd weigh less.  But I'm an okay weight for my height and I look about the same as I did when I was 12# lighter (my all-time adult low, achieved last fall).  Now, part of the reason I gained some weight back is that I didn't step.away.from.the.Snickers, but I really don't like obsessing over what I eat as much as I feel like I have to in order to maintain my weight.

Now, this weekend might be a different story.  I'm driving out to see Kenyan as soon as I get out of work, and I didn't have time last night to make a sandwich for my dinner.  I've got some healthy road snacks, but we'll see how that goes.  I predict a Subway stop in my future, though I prefer to get something that's easier to eat in the car and sub sandwiches don't really fit the bill.

Nadra- when you tie the knot, where are you two gonna live?

RA-- neither restaurant fired me up. The first one's quinoa salad looked good, that was about it. I really only go to vegetarian restaurants, so it is hard for me to see a more traditional menu :D
