Lancashire...I think you food choices were really balanced. You ate what you wanted but eliminated the things you really didn't need. Please review the Jillian thing for us when you have used it.

Thanks, Mouse! I probably could have passed on the last bit of the spelt bread, but I couldn't let it waste. It's soooooooo good! I didn't have any other bread yesterday, so I guess it was a wash? (I try to only have bread once/day if I have it. Pasta or rice is once/week.)

And I look forward to testing the JM videos! I *think* I may even be able to do it in my room if I move a few things around and rotate the tv! That way I won't have to have an audience when I work out.

RA- I think your response was great! "Diet" is such a loaded word. It's even used to describe the "vegetarian diet" which isn't a lose weight diet, just describing what people eat on a regular basis. It isn't easy as a parent, is it?

Congrats Mini on the clothes!! I look forward to some of that soon, I hope.

Bounce, bounce, bounce.  1.5 pounds to where I was Tuesday.  I shudder to think what the scale will say tomorrow.  Focus!  Focus on actions, not results.  That's the ticket.

Yesterday I was really dragging through my workout.  I was surly and sassed back at the wii, annoyed with it for making me work.  I flipped it the finger more than once.  By the end I felt like I was going to drop.  I even thought I was coming down with something I was so tired and run-down.

Before even preparing my dinner, I grabbed a few forkfuls of leftover pork.  I felt better almost immediately.

I didn't feel hungry.  I just felt run down.  I think part of the reason I gained the weight is that I don't have normal hunger/full cues.  So I have to pay attention to what my body's telling me.

Tonight I'm going to have a bit of the pork as soon as I get home and see if it improves my workout.

This morning I was so entranced by my shadow, I took a picture:

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Mini!

I like the shadow pic.  Focusing on your actions rather than the results is a great way of thinking. I "weigh" my options all day and try to remember what my long term wishes are and that helps me keep a handle on my actions. Like my therapist told me ... "if you really wanted to lose the weight you would do it". (the conversation was a little more entailed but that is the gist) I remind myself of that regularly. What is I it *want*? Do I want to eat a burger (that is not organic or even good quality meat) just because it is there or do I want to feel good, and eat food that make my body feel good?

My arms are sore from yesterdays workout. I did Jillian 30dsl3 (no pushups b/c of my shoulder).  I am going to run this am.   HIT starts next Tues...that should be interesting. I hope I am not a total slacker, while everyone else is strong and fit. I don't want to make an as* of myself, or hurt myself. I think I can manage a decent show, but eek! :panic: now I am a little worried!

Deb, how'd dinner go last night?

I'm down three pounds since I started using the LoseIt app, which is pretty sweet. I've also been working out more, so it's probably a combined effect.

Stupid hormones. Steadily gained 3lbs this week. Moving back in the right direction. Down 2. Would like to see another three lbs go though as have been good all week- no reason to think I didn't lose my typical 1.5 -2 lbs under all that puffiness. Since my 8 week program ends we and im still a few lbs from my 15 lb goal..
Would rather the week before the end not be a total bust.

Tried on some 4s, which didn't fit, just to remind my self im not there yet.

Thanks for asking, Mouse! It went pretty well. I had a salad, which was surprisingly light on the cheese, and went with the tri-tip and fries. The steak was good and the fries were delicious. There were 7 of us, so we got one of each dessert and I had a few small bites of each one.

And wine. Mmmmmmwine.

So it was definitely my splurge for the week, but I didn't feel like I'd completely blown my efforts when I left, either.

Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my feeling cruddy this morning is from allergies, and not because Reid decided to practice his sharing by giving me his cold. I'm very definitely not hungover.

Pho today for lunch with DH.

Sounds delicious and totally worth it, debba.  I wish I had pho for lunch.

It was awesome. And the desserts were tiny, so I couldn't gorge or there wouldn't be enough for anyone else. The chocolate mousse had a hint of ginger and came with tiny little gingersnaps. Mmmmm.

And I've never had pho, but it sounds really good. I'm hoping the chicken soup aspect of it will help with my allergies. I'm in denial that it might be a cold.

I only weigh myself once a week.

Nice shadow pic Mini.

I had 1/2 a boiled egg this am and a Van's gluten free waffle with almond butter.....

I have a low fat yogurt that I got for free off the shared food table at work......more importantly, I did not grab the brownies that were there the other day.

Debba- glad you enjoyed yourself and walked away feeling good about it! That has been the biggest revelation for me- to be able to stay "on plan" right up to the moment of the meal- eat the meal, enjoy the meal, and then get right back on plan at the next opportunity to eat. It sounds so simple- but I have sabbotaged myself SO many times over that little itty bitty idea.

Good job Roach! I am amazed that yogurt ends up on the shared eating table. How long had it been there?  :P

I hate the shared food table. It currently lives out side my cube. It's mostly empty these days (after what seemed like months of holiday crap) but is currently occupied by bagels. I used to have zero control when it came to the "sugar cube" (as we call it) but these days I have no problem ignoring all the goodies.

I can't remember the last time I grabbed a snack out of the sugar cube, or dug into the candy jar, etc. I totally used to be the person who always had my hand in the candy jar. No longer! Although, as I was leaving PT last night I did reach for some candy bars without even thinking about it. I grabbed two. I thougth one of them was a snickers... it turned out to be a milky way. After I thought about it for about 30 seconds I relized I didn't really need the candy and I threw them away (sorry OAW!).

Could I be cured of my sweet tooth?

FINALLY, I'm back in my routine.... ran 4 miles, abs & push-ups.  Feeling happier about that even if my cold isn't gone.  I've been doing good with eating today too.  At least so far.  I'll have to get very creative for dinner or go get groceries...and I'm not up to food shopping.

I'm still patiently waiting for news about brother's gf who is currently in labor.  It is taking a long time and she's having complications from her childhood cancer/illnesses.

Meri - nice job!!  I'm still doing girlie-style push ups and haven't converted to normal ones yet.  I should probably just give it a try.

Something I've been trying to remind myself is that eating out is almost always a splurge, no matter what I get -- even the "light" options are not as healthy as what I'd eat at home. For example, my guesstimate for lunch was around 500 calories. That's more than it would be if I made it myself.

Yes, absolutely. On the plan I'm following- that could simply be two days worth of extra calories or I could skip my snacks for that day, to make room. But there just really, really, really isn't a whole lot of room even for mini-splurges like that. So, is it worth it? Can I find something reasonable to eat? Can I suggest something other than eating to do. Sometimes I just skip stuff. I've kind of been hermitting for the past couple of months because I do too much social eating!

It really is amazing how much of our social lives revolve around food.

Even though I'm no longer really participating (just reading the thread), I just want to share here that I get to do a capsule endoscopy on Monday (ie swallow a camera). That's all good and well, but it means that I have to do clear liquids only ALL DAY SUNDAY AND MONDAY MORNING! Yeah, I know I'm yelling, but I'm hungry just thinking about it.  :incazzato:

They better find something good. And by good I mean 'not another cancer scare please, thank you'.

We have a big wine pairing dinner party at our house on Saturday night. I'm pigging out, oh yes I am.

Ok, I'm done ranting now. Thank you.
