I'm not near my goal though. I still have about 15lbs to lose.  :'(

I don't want to tell you what to do or anything, but are you sure your goal weight is reasonable?

I, too, am at a plateau and caved into my cravings today.
Lunch is ham sandwich and doritos.
I didn't bother running today. I am on a break for a day!

Sometimes you have to say "no more".

It puts me right in the middle of the normal bmi range and a clothing size 2-4... so, I don't really feel like it should be all that much of a stretch. Right now I am just barely within the normal bmi range.

In other news, I burned the crap out of my mouth with not soup at lunch.  :fiery:

With me it's more like a lifetime of yoyo dieting has fucked with my metabolism.  Each time I gain weight, it's harder to get down to where I should be.

I've been re-reading End of Overeating, and it's clear that my indulgence in candy over the last week has set off my reward triggers and is making me crave more.

My issue is stress. I applied for Badwater and the application period ended Wednesday and decisions are next week. I am like, if i get in, gung ho on the weight loss/exercise, if i don't, holy heck, not sure what will happen, though i am considering using my $ towards Crossfit or something instead of Badwater. And then the stress of the webguy (see Yammering) and having to fire him in the near future  :!:

men are so different than women when it comes to weight loss that i think it may be hard for them to wrap their heads around how difficult it can be for some of us. DH has commented that he cannot believe, with what i eat, that i do not lose weight. I totally agree. If he ate what i ate, he would be a skeleton.

I met a friend for a glass of wine last night. Turned into a 4-5 hour convo and 3 glasses of wine on an empty stomach. I had a big bowl of fiber one when I got home. I figured it might soak up some of the booze. New number on the scale this am. About to go see my mom, bro and fam. Slightly hangover. Glad it is only slight.

I've had a bad week.  I bought and ate tons of crap.  Tons.   I am trying to figure out why - I've been feeling a little off, anxious, maybe?   I'm up a couple of pounds, of course.

I threw the rest of the junk out this morning, though.  This is a first for me.  It's been ingrained in me not to waste something, and I threw perfectly good "food" in the trash.  But I felt really powerful when I did so.  :fiery:

8 mile hike today, 1500 calorie deficit and I'm mentally preparing myself for number to be up tomorrow.

However, I'm feeling like the urge to binge ebbing away.   I felt great hiking today.  My pants were loose.  I didn't get exhausted or out pf breath.

Good luck with Badwater application, Meri!

Bonita, I can maintain 1000 calorie deficit and not lose weight.  My body fights it every step of the way.
Yay to throwing out junk!

Mini that sounds like a nice hike...very satisfying!

Today has been a good one.  Took the twins to story time since we were finally all over the cold.  They enjoyed themselves.  During their nap I got a 2.5 mile run in (still careful because of knee pain), did my push-ups and abs routine.  Feeling really good.

I'm currently drinking some freshly squeezed by me OJ.  Super tasty.

I've been almost giddy the last few days waiting for my Kitchenaid mixer to turn up.  Also, because of the cast iron skillet thread and my need for new pots/pans, I've ordered 2 of them to play with.

I knew there was a seething beast beneath the calm waters.  -Fionn

How did you figure this out? It does not sound right to me.

I burned over 3,000 calories yesterday (about 1,000 while hiking 5 hours), and ate about 1500.  I use a bodybugg to help get a good grasp on calorie burn.  It's not completely accurate, but probably within 10% margin of error.

Didn't see any movement on the scale this morning, so I guess that's better than a gain.  Off on a more modest 4-5 mile hike this morning, then out to dinner at our favorite BBQ (almost posted BBW!) joint.  Probably will not break even on calories today.

The addictive feelings I was struggling last week are slowing fading, mainly because all the cherry M&Ms are gone.  I am now pondering why I feel entitled to binge.  It's beyond desire- I feel I deserve it.  I think part of it comes from advertising (you deserve a break today!), and part from the relationship between food and celebration - food and the reward centers of our brain.  We associate food with happiness - holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, getting a raise, getting an award - special days that are related to special foods.  But there are so many special days!   Thanksgiving, Christmas, the Super Bowl, Valentines Day, birthdays, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween.  More that one per month.  And that's not counting days we decide to treat ourselves for other reasons - sometimes just surviving a tough week.

And there's the lingering feeling of "I've been good!  I ate right and exercised!  I get a cookie, right?"  I've been working on non-food rewards, but the feeling that I am cheated if I don't get a food reward remains.

I have been ok to maintain I have not been eating the way I want.  Weekend away and did not involve volumes of food but I did have french fries and I did have a gourmet cupcake..

I know the triggers for me.. We were arguing over directions and I actually felt this physical sensation coming over my body, like I NEEDED to eat chips, or crackers or cookies or bread.  I was in the car of course, so I didn't, but I can only describe it as a feeling that came over my entire body, and stomace and I needed this.  Stress related.  I can only imagine it must be what an alcoholic feels like when reaching for the booze.  If I am stressed at work, the last thing I think about is coming home and having a glass of wine.. I don't even keep wine in the house.  But tearing into the chips or crackers.. that's another thing. Luckily, with just me here, I can get away without buying that stuff.. But I still gorge on the good stuff when this feeling hits.

Seattle, I am glad you threw the food away.  Removing the temptation is really helpful.  What are you anxious about? Are you avoiding something you don't want to deal with or think about by "changing the subject"? (my M.O is to eat so I can beat myself up rather than deal with whatever is really bugging me.  It worked great until my therapist suggested it was my M.O....now that I see it is true it doesn't work quite as well....I immediately think...hmmm...what is it that is driving this?) Anyway...don't beat yourself up too much.

RA....I am thinking of you this weekend. Hang in there.

Merigayle, how long until you know about Badwater? How is the kidlet feeling, and did you catch it?  I am the same as far as how few calories I can consume if I want to lose. It is a fine balancing act for sure. I have to stay in the 1200 -1400 range, and I have to exercise.

MIni....your hikes sound awesome yet grueling!  How do you like the body bug?? Is it easy to program?

Bolloxed..I love that feeling good...feeling strong feeling.  Good for you. It is awesome.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I was busy! I worked on my very first quilt ever, and walked the dogs with DH...napped and viola! The day was done.  I ate better yesterday....got back on the wagon. Even though my little "recess" from eating only planned foods wasn't that bad I did not want it to become habit....
My trip is 4 weeks away now! I am hoping to eek another pound or three by then....nothing to crazy...but I will have to be on it.

I am step class in an hour..that should be fun. OH, and HIIT on thursday last week (class #2) was great.  Different moves entirely, all core - centric. She had me do tricep presses rather than pushups, we did box jumps, russian twists and burpees in addition to side plank twists. Oh...only one other person showed up besides me.  We don't know if they will be back on Tuesday or not.

Have a good day everyone.   :lambie: :doglick: :hiker: :runner:

Thanks, Mouse.  I'm not really sure what's driving the anxiety, although it might have something to do with the fact that I've been thinking about moving in with the BF a lot lately.  That won't happen till August, but maybe that's triggering stuff for me.  Even though I'm excited about it!

Down 3.4 lbs from yesterday!  WTF?  Probably hormonal, actually.  I'll take it.

We're going out for Valentine's dinner tonight, and I'm having a beer.  I'm thinking salad with salmon or grilled chicken will be my entree.  Mmm... beer.

I do not have one of those, but figure a typical day burns 1600 calories for me (the generic average for women), without exercise, and I count 100 calories per mile hiked or run, as a guideline, so I would have calculated that day as burning 2,400 calories.  Even with a 10% margin of error, I would still be under 3,000.  Hence my question.  But I am not questioning technology.
