Good!  I added a can of black beans, left out the bell peppers as they tend to disagree with me, and served with avocado instead of sour cream.

I am neutral about chopping. Depends on the ingredient and as i get older and more comfortable with bigger and sharper knives, it only gets easier.

So, not much else to report here. I just cannot lost a pound to save my life. It sucks. I have been enjoying the fitness pal app though!

I can I come back here? I've been pretty much eating whatever I want lately but since I will be mostly sitting on my arse for the next 6 weeks, and then slowly building up from there (so I'll be in top form for running all next winter. wheee!) I guess I better start eating like it matters.  :azn:

RA, I'm back on track too. 

The transition to vegan was a lot harder than I thought.  I felt I had permission to eat as much as I wanted, as long as it was vegan.  Big mistake.  So I binged on bread, crackers, and candy in addition to my planned meals.  I think I'm one of the few people to gain weight upon transitioning to vegan. 

So now I'm back on minimal wheat and sugar.  And getting on the bike trainer after work.

Nope, I'm right there with you. I would weigh 300 lbs if I tried to be vegan. I just do much better with hunger control with some animal protein in my life.

With me, I think it was withdrawal from dairy.  I ate cheese almost every day.  Now that I've been cheese-free for about a month, my body doesn't miss it as much so hopefully the binges are over.

Yeah, I do not eat that type of stuff for the most part, maybe an occassional spelt tortilla or ezekial bread toast. But overall, no crackers, chips, bread, etc. But it is baby steps. I college what did I eat? Cereal and lots of it. Pizza. Ice cream. I got fat. Now, I base my meals around mostly beans, and there are veggies, whole grains (mostly brown rice and quinoa, sometimes barley and millet) and try to minimize my sweets. Lately it has been frozen banana ice cream (just frozen bananas in blender = perfect froyo consistancy) or a piece of fruit. I love sweets, especially something sweet after dinner. It takes time, you are doing well :)

I eat cheese every day, usually multiple times a day. :D In most cases I can live with out it and probably am about where I should cut back. I have found that in most cases I don't miss it, if I leave it out (some exceptions).

Meri, did you get your vitamix replaced?
yes! last monday!!! :D I returned it with the peanut butter still in it :D they were shocked and said no one ever returns them. New one seems to be doing well. We are a smoothie making machine and DD is loving them. I am sneaking flax oil and liquid Vit B into hers and may try some spinach next (if she is not around to see) because i did that today for me and it tasted great. kale, no, spinach, yes.

Blergh, I have been so hungry lately! Weight loss has definitely been stalled, but I think that is ok - just focusing on eating enough of the right stuff while training for the half, coming up in May. I'm still within 5 pounds of a goal weight that I think may or may not be a little low for me, so it's all good. Trying to keep the focus on feeling fit and being happy with how I look.

RA, good to see you back here, although I'm still sorry that you're sidelined. Just glad you are taking time to really rest it and heal.

Working on good strategies to get through Easter weekend with family invading and lots of cooking scheduled to take place.  :)

It's all the running you're doing. Caito yelled at me about it in another thread and I decided she was right. I was eating 1800-2200 calories/day while I was training for my half. I wasn't stepping on the scale, so I don't know what my weight was doing... but I didn't get any bigger.

But, someone in my injury thread said that when they stopped running their appetite went away and they lost a bunch of weight, and that has been true too. Well, I don't know about a bunch... I'm back down to pretty much my lowest weight in 10 years. Of course, I'm now  :panic: because I know it's just muscle wasting.

I'm pretty happy at the size I'm at though.

I'm not really following the eating plan very closely. Just trying to eat a reasonable breakfast, lunch, get a snack or two in there... and then it's a free for all for dinner. Some nights I'm not that hungry so I might have something snack sized. Some nights I want something a little more substantial. I eat out for dinner a few times a week and try and keep it reasonable, but also not impose too much restriction on myself. Moving out of the city has helped me curb my (dangerous) affection for the various ice cream and frozen custard shops that were within walking distance of my apartment!

I will say that the thing I'm most happy with with the diet I went on last year is that it seemed to re-set my eating habits. I don't battle cravings anymore. I don't feel the need to eat until I'm stuffed. I look forward to food, and I enjoy food... but I don't miss the way I used to eat. I feel like I have a core way of eating that serves me well *most* of the time, but leaves plenty of room for indulgence also. It's a good place to be.

My appetite has been super weird lately!  I get filled up with not very much food, and then one or two hours later I'm starving.  This is problematic for multiple reasons.  First, even if I have an afternoon snack I tend to be so hungry after work that I skip my run so I can go home and eat.  Second, I find it more difficult to make healthy food choices when I'm snacking.  I'd rather eat three balanced meals a day and call it good, rather than feeling hungry and having to think about food all the time.  I haven't been working out much lately either.  If that were the case, the increased hunger would make sense.  (Well, this week it makes sense because my period started this morning, but I've noticed this change for the past 2-3 weeks)

Maybe try breaking things down into smaller meals and just plan to eat more often? Then instead of snacking on whatever... you're eating purposefully and prepared for it, when hunger strikes.

Also, I've had to just come to terms with the fact that my "dinner" time is more like 4:30/5. So, I do best to eat something dinner sized then and then maybe a snack or something around regular dinner time- if I do get hungry later. I eat lunch at 11:30, though, so I guess that makes sense.
