Yeah, that is right up there with the crazy stuff people do to vegetarians.

I was thinking the same thing. I do understand how someone who doesn't really understand the gluten free thing might thing that a little bit of flour in an entire recipe might not be a big deal, sort of along the lines of a little bit of butter in a whole recipe isn't a big deal.

Yeah, that makes sense...  It probably pushed my buttons because she was telling me, in no uncertain terms that I could and should, eat her soup.  She likes to do that.  Had it not had flour in it, I still wouldn't have wanted to eat it because it was some sort of ham, rice, potato, and bean soup, which is GROSS IMHO.  :D  When it comes to food, we don't share a lot of tastes.  This is not news, and it was one of her controlling little tricks.  She got offended when DH didn't finish his bowl of her soup (he didn't like it).  In the past, she's gotten offended when I don't eat her stuff, because it is something I don't like.  I don't force her to eat shit she doesn't like, or even expect it!  I don't know why it can't go both ways.

They have given me shit about my eating habits for about 11 years, ever since I lost weight and would every once in a while cook my own veggie burger instead of a real burger, or make something quasi healthy for a holiday meal.  It's ANNOYING.  I'm not a vegetarian (not that there is anything wrong with that to me, but they sure act like it's the weirdest thing ever, and act like since I sometimes don't eat something meaty, I must be a vegetarian  ;;}).  They all like these weird (to me) fruit/jello/whipped cream salads, and there were literally THREE of them on the table this weekend at dinner.  I opted for the safe foods I knew I could eat for sure (ham, mashed potatoes with some butter, and corn).  I hadn't checked the ingredients on jello or pudding to know if they add gluten (it's added to the weirdes stuff, I swear) so I opted to be safe, and I know I probably offended them.  But I'm not going to make myself sick just to be nice.  I even made breakfast both mornings for everyone.  The second morning was a monkey bread deal that I couldn't eat, but I made it anyway.  I try not to be a total PITA with this whole GF thing, and I think I'm polite about it, and never make a big deal out of it.  Yet, I don't think it came across that way.

And yeah, the smoke thing is bad.  My FIL and BIL smoke constantly, in the house.  It's horrible.  I have to stop taking things into the house, becuse the smoke smell is there forever in stuff like shoes.  I wash everything else as soon as I get home.  Gross.

Oh yeah, I totally get it. People are getting better about the vegetarian thing... but it is frequently way more of a big deal than it should be, which is annoying. I only bring up the veg thing because it sounds like you're encountering a lot of the same push back we get.

Totally.

And it's a huge pet peeve of mine when people make unsolicited commentary on what someone is eating.  STFU and MYOB!!  :D

I think I'm cranky right now because I'm hungry :D

No, debba cannot subsist on brown rice and steamed veggies. :) That orange chicken recipe looks really good, though. I really do love Cooking Light. Lots of good stuff in there, and it all has a ton of flavor. To me, a lot of the WW recipes were always really bland, but CL does a great job with flavor.

We're doing beef and broccoli stir-fry tonight. Mmmmmm.

I have definitely made some "keepers" from Cooking Light over the years.

This Parmesan Chicken & Rice is one good one, lots of flavor and I don't even include the mushrooms: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/parmesan-chicken-rice-10000000642342/ I make it with brown rice, too. It's great with a simple side of steamed green beans.

And their Chili Mac is a good basic dinner, all in 1 pot, which I am a big fan of: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/chili-mac-10000000222455/ Nothing else needed to go with it - it's loaded with veggies and very satisfying.

We call that "hangry" 'round these parts. It's a good name for it, because it's true. Also, it always makes us laugh, which seems to help.

That Parmesan Chicken and Rice thing is da bomb!  (I DO use the mushrooms.  Love them!)  I had no idea it was from Cooking Light though.  I got it from ya'll.  I usually serve with a side of spinach or asparagus, but those are kind of my favorite green vegetables.
Ellen stole my joy and I want it back!

I'm definitely going to have to check that out then. :) I tend to cook primarily out of their Quick and Easy recipes, but we venture out into more complicated or time-consuming recipes on weekends. I love their stuff.

When is it TF? I'm considering signing up for one in march. There is a super early bird special through the first for $55... and I'm thinking of doing it. But, march seems so far away...

Woo hoo! I am still debating signing up for one too! I think I can do it but it isn't until May, so I am kind of wavering. I predict that my sister and mr. cgraz will work the peer pressure over Christmas when we're all together and I will sign up then. I made this deal with my sister that if she tried a tri, I would do a half - so now that she is seriously entertaining doing the Danskin with me, I am stuck making good on my word!
