Miss, I just sort of grit my teeth and deal with it, as far as the carb cravings go. I'm never terribly motivated to exercise, so a lack of motivation isn't much different. :)

I gained half a pound this week - considering everything with the in-laws being here, DH's birthday, our date, etc., I'm pretty pleased with that result. I was really afraid I'd erased all the losses from the past few weeks entirely.

I'm back on the Dukan Diet for 5 days starting tomorrow.  It has been a rough weekend!

Let me know what you think of it!

It's a little too cultish/infomercial/sales pitch for me.  I got mad when Christianne Northrup said feeding kids sugar was exactly like giving them heroin.  I didn't like the story of the girl who's supposed to be the viewer.  The fit for life diet is a little heavy on promises of detoxifying/disease cleansing for me.  Juicing makes me feel kinda skeptical.

I liked the crazy sexy diet lady's point "my food shouldn't have a longer shelf life than I do."

"Oi looked like Oi swallowed a sheep!"

I agree with the premise that eating fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean meats is a healthy approach. But when people start talking about toxins I start tuning out.

I liked the idea of using the unconcious - visualizing the results you want.  I think this is a big part of the challenge I'm fighting now.  I dream about myself being fat.   It's because I'm struggling to get used to the fact that I'm not fat anymore.  I'm trying to rethink my mental scripts that define me as a fat dwarf and seeing a petite woman instead.

That guy Frank who cried talking about self-loathing was very touching.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

Yeah.. there were definitely parts I tuned out. I am not a fan of "juicing" so did kind of skip that, but the take away how the bad carbs and sugar and salt create the craving and the part about food being real, I always need a reminder of that.  I hate how the diet industry and weight watchers in particular market their diet foods.. that were loaded with chemicals and always left me craving for more..

And I liked the part where they talked about how even if you ate 10,000 calories a day, if it didn't have the right nutrition, you would still be hungry.. I think that explains why I still feel hungry or crave food after eating Macdonalds

I've totally failed this week.  PMS sucks bunny asses!   How do the women who have PMS in this thread deal with the carb cravings and lack of motivation to exercise.

 :( :( :(

I try to use my irritability as an incentive to run.  However, I do prefer to take a Vicodin and a nap.  I also suck at avoiding any type of cravings when it comes to PMS.

So, today instead of running I took a nap.   :P  We took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt this morning....they did pretty good and had fun.  Wore me out though.  Food for today has been quite pathetic - they scored a lot of candy at the egg hunt.   That is my PMS coping strategy.  :-[

I thought Dr Roberts summed all of this up pretty simply/nicely and backed up with science in the I-diet. You eat because the food is there and because your brain registers it as more "tasty" than salad. You are hungry again shortly after eating the food because of the blood sugar crash that follows eating a diet devoid in fiber. Period, end of story. I don't really believe there is anything more sinister than that going on. IMO, a lot of these movies are just as bad as the diet industry they love to hate. A lot of pseudo science without a lot of actional data. By contrast, Dr. Roberts lays out the reasons we behave the way we do and common sense ways to change the way we eat accordingly.

I have a friend doing a juice fast right now. She's drinking 1600 calories a day of juice and tossing all the fiber to the chickens. She's hoping to do 30 days of juicing. I am just biting my tongue, but is that really "easier" than eating 1200 calories of regular food that will help stem your cravings, nourish your body and set you up for a life time of success? I just don't understand going to extremes like that.

I really think the I diet makes a lot of sense.. I have to admit to skimming the book and not following it totally, but was it correct that it was ok to eat things with high fructose corn syrup?

I think what you eat does make a difference.  I didn't think this movie was overly "the diet industry sucks".  It was more eat whole food.. add more of the good things in and you will like how you start to feel and naturally eat less of the bad.
TBH, films like this are pretty much preaching to the choir when people like us watch them.  Its the people who need to see them, that generally don't.

myfitnesspal!

Thanks. I have that. I also downloaded a couple of others ones that I'm not to thrilled with. I may go back to that one. When I track my food, it seems I eat better. Imagine that!

I know I haven't been active in this thread, but I want to join so I can work on getting back to healthy eating habits.  :lambie:

Managed to run 5 miles today - longest run yet!  I did my push ups & abs too.  I've been pretty good with food so far, but I am starving since my run.    Since the scale has been rude the last few days I'll have to be super careful with my evening snacks.

I've got a massage booked for tomorrow, I can't wait!

I ran in the rain for a really long time, then it got hot. Then ecodork ram 12 miles w me and told me about her NZ honeymoon, then gingerbread ran 12 w me and it was pouring rain and thunderstorming. Then i lost my appetite for the last 40 miles and had a good puke at mile 93. The end! Lol. It was a pretty uneventful race and the weather was miserable!!!!! I got to see soooomany good friends though :)

Yay Meri!   I was thinking about you yesterday as I was hiking - a mere 8 miles!

Up 3 from yesterday, 2 from last week.   >:( Tacos  >:(  Try very hard not to fall into a spiral of self-loathing when I think about how much more I weigh than Leezle.  I will not compare!  I will not compare!  I will not compare!

I will drink a shitton of DFW to flush out my system.
