I do the same thing.  It's out of control right now.  I need to make an appointment with my therapist pronto.  I wish I had advice for you.

I think it helps to remember that so many people around you are doing the same thing just with different comparisons.  Right now I look at people and think ... I bet they are really fertile.  Why can they be so fertile and not me?  Or I read about Meri and think, she can run 100 miles and still get a period?!  That is crazy, go her, I want that to be me!  Everyone you are looking at has their own struggles ... no better or worse than your own.

truth? i had to gain 9lbs before getting pregnant to get a period and i was not underweight. I was 135lbs prior to gaining the 9lbs. But i was running 75mpw.

I totally understand.  :)  I wasn't trying to make my crappy thought processes seem worse than anyone else's.  It's definitely not a competition!

Oh, I really didn't mean to single you out.  And see, this is a perfect example because I made an assumption (based on your BC concerns) and was wrong.  I think that's what happens most of the time when we look around and wonder why we aren't more like the people around us (and assume they have it better or are somehow better).

I saw a thing that said Comparison is the thief of joy...  I might have mentioned it before.  But it's so true.  Comparison rarely does any of us any good :)

oh i did not feel singled out at all! :)

i am always comparing myself to others, especially at races. There was always one woman who was always at races i did who was the "fat" one, well, she lost a boatload of weight the past two years and is no longer fat. Will there be someone heavier than me there? And I know i am not heavy, but in the context of runner women, i feel HUGE, besides that i am tall, and they are all petite little things.

BBQ for dinner tonight. Not great, points-wise, but I tracked it all and I'm okay for the week, overall.

Yes, I do the comparing thing too about various things.  It is hard to just ignore that inner chatter sometimes.

The scale has started creeping back up on me, only by a few pounds, but I know I've not been careful with my snacking like I should be.  I need to slow down on the evening snacks again.  Ugh.  I did get in a run today, 4.7 miles plus my push-ups.  Been moody, according to DH, so I guess the PMS is starting to kick in just for the weekend.   :grr:

Scale was up about a pound this morning, so I'm sucking back DFW like my life depends on it. I always forget how much sodium there is in stuff like BBQ - I mean, duh, that's practically what makes it BBQ, but I dunno, I just.... don't think about it when I'm face first in brisket.

Likely Mexican food tonight. Awesome.  :grr: Off to check the menu to see what I can get.

I'm thinking chicken tacos with charro beans on the side.

Yeah, I had mexican last night, too! And a margarita (that was not good enough to be worth the calories. Second time this week!) It was a veggie quesadilla with poblano cole slaw. Not terrible at least. But still.. no running or Jillian DVD yesterday due to the knee... I have salad for lunch! I tried to get up for Jillian today but was just too tired. We got home at 10pm which is too late for me. Tonight I get to go home and pack for Stuart's visit (we're staying in a hotel while he's here since I'm living at home for the time being...) 34 hours to go (or so!!!) :D

Re: comparisons- I definitely do it. My "thing" is thighs and butt. I'm always looking and trying to figure out if my butt/thighs are bigger or smaller.. :( But then I try to remind myself to be grateful for my strong legs and glutes to carry me through runs!

Finally made it home yesterday after being stuck at SFO for 6 hours due to cancelled and delayed flights. We got settled in, cleaned up and napped. I had a horrible headache...combination of too much airplane, no sleep (we were up for 36 hours by the time we got home) and no morning latte. (I was afraid to drink coffee at the airport because I was already punchy and I was afraid I would jack my stomach up).  Slept great last night and feel rested this morning. Dewey is sleeping on my legs as I type.  :doglick:
Hank is on the couch by the fire. Like nothing has changed around here.
It looks like it is good we got home when we did, as they are predicting 8-16 inches of rain in the next 3 days here!! :yikes:  Maui will be a distant dream.......

So....I am up roughly 2.5 pounds. I suspect some off it will drop off quick since I won't be drinking beer again for sometime, and the rest I will count as "real" and will need to chip away at it.
All in all...we had a fantastic time, and we are glad to be home.

The only good thing about the Mexican tonight is that it'll be takeout - the in-laws will pick it up and bring it to our house - so there will be no margaritas involved. I'm quite sure there will be chips - FIL never met a chip he didn't love - but I'll work very hard to avoid them. I went with the chicken fajita tacos; the plate comes with Spanish rice and I asked for charro beans instead of refried. Reid will likely steal half my rice.  :eyeroll:

I can take some of the cheese off the tacos, but that.... well, let's be honest, that's not likely, now, is it?

It's still better than cheese enchiladas, which is what I'd normally have gotten.

Mouse, that sounds like a fabulous trip - try not to float away with that rain!

I ate Mexican for dinner last night, too.  :)

California Avocado Tacos: soft flour tortillas with salad that has a bit of cheese and avocado slices on top
I ate a few chips with groovy bean dip but not too too bad

Mouse - glad you've made it back and rested up.  2.5 lbs isn't too bad!!  I'd say you did a great job and it'll come off pretty easily.
Debba - enjoy the Mexican.  Sodium likes to sneak up on me too in some things.
Lanarkshire - enjoy your visit with the man...burn some calories together.  ;)

So, yeah, DH was right about the moody/PMS...as I was taken by surprise this morning while at a gym for the kiddos.  Horrible timing.   :-[ But, I did get some exercise in.... it is a huge gymnastics place where they let toddlers run free for 2 hours.  So, lots of trampolines, running around, and jumping into a huge foam pit.  I've never been in a foam pit, it was fun but way harder to move around than you'd think.

Since I  didn't sleep worth a crap last night and we were up earlier I'm hoping to squeeze in a quick nap as soon as the kids crash for their nap.
