Hi all!!

MM, can you just not have pizza and opt for a salad???

Of course I *can* but realistically I cannot watch other people eat pizza while I eat a boring ass salad (and the good salads are just as many points as pizza).

Plus I have been on points every single day this week so I can probably get away with a piece or two and a garden salad.

I have been so hungry all the damn time lately with all this marathon training and boxing and stuff, but I'm trying so hard to make good choices because I do not want to gain any weight.

So, I have done quite a bit of marathon training and always found my hunger to be almost out of control. I was struggling not to gain weight, and ultimately, I cannot say I ever gained more than 2 pounds ever, which I then lost.  Since I am injured now, I am not running at all.  I have NO hunger whatsoever, and no, I am not depressed or so.  I just seem to eat small portions and be satisfied, and then forget about food.  It's a new sensation.  And one that puts the high-mileage training in a perspective, too.

Meri I hope your friend can give you some good advice with all that you've got going on.
MM I'm not one to resist pizza either while everyone else eats it.  Savor every delicious bite!
caito, glad the boxing is going so well.  I can imagine it is such great stress relief to beat the crap out of something.
Mouse, maintenance mode is better than gaining mode.  Keep it up and I bet you'll get a shift in weight soon.

I've not been checking in as much, but I'm in maintenance mode too.  DH thinks I'm cooking up so much food lately for an apocalypse.  I'm trying to get the freezer packed so I can take a long break from cooking for awhile and still have lots of variety.  I also thinking cooking has taken over my obsessiveness that I had for the WLC and Decluttering.

I managed to get in 4.4 miles today, push ups AND ab work....the abs usually get ignored but they are what I need work on the most.  Anyway... I'm sporting a nice black eye today after getting knocked by the back of D's head.  Didn't bother him at all but put me on the floor and it started swelling immediately.  I was quick with the ice pack so I think that really limited the damage.

Looking forward to spending tomorrow with a few CHers! :D

wow. my friend is awesome! she called me and gave me a list (which she will email to me) of bloodwork to get done. She is a thyroid specialist and wanted more specific tests drawn, as well as other things like zinc levels. She is also concerned that i may have some sort of insulin resistance based on some symptoms of low blood sugar and family history. Something i never considered. She also wanted me to use a new tracking program (my plate app?) to track micronutrients and wonders if there is some micronutrient issue and that i should be really good about taking my multi (i am not good at taking it). I will call my dr on monday and talk to her about getting the bloodwork tests done.

:D It is something i never thought about, but she started really asking a lot of questions and i was like, maybe. I usually see menstrual or fertility issues with my patients who have insulin resistance, but i had no problem getting pregnant, luckily, and got pregnant on my first cycle trying.

yes me too. there has to be something going on here beyond the good ol calories in and calories out. she said if all these tests come back ok, the next would be a cortisol saliva test that you do throughout the day to test those levels.

so the last thing I could think of in my body's mystery is the Mirena, HOWEVER, i had one prior to getting pregnant and LOST weight with it. I did google Mirena + weight gain and got a crazy amount of information of women gaining weight and/or not losing weight on the Mirena, so that could be an answer as well, though since i lost weight prior with it, I dunno.

Getting my mirena out is what kick started my weight loss.

Yeah, but you've had a baby since then. My body has not reacted the same since Reid was born, that's for damn sure. Allergies have been my biggest issue, though. Weight gain is directly attributable to Ben & Jerry. And whichever company makes Skittles. And Coca-Cola. I hope you figure it out, Meri!

So I'm sitting here with like an extra 8 points for today, since I didn't have my normal breakfast or afternoon snack. And I've had dinner. Not sure what I'm going to do.

Dinner was delicious - char siu pork in the crock pot, basmati rice, and frozen stir-fry veggies.

interesting. yeah, that was my thought, body is different after baby. who knows. i do not want the paraguard but having another baby is not an option for too many reasons and DH won't get a V  :-[ though i am not sure we are ready to be that final about it.

Just curious, why no paragard? Not that it's any of my business.

the main side effect is very heavy and painful periods. It would be the option if i removed the mirena. does anyone here have the paraguard? I had one period before getting pregnant with DD and it was HORRIBLE and i cannot imagine every period like that, or worse. I have had the mirena, except when pregnant, for 10 years! I am used to little or no period. I would probably remove the mirena and do the paraguard after Badwater. Last thing I need is to have a hemmorage during the race where you wear all white :D

Hah - okay, I'd read that about paragard, but wasn't sure if that was your reason for saying no, or if you knew something else about it. I'm seriously considering an IUD of some kind after kid #2 and have heard good and bad about both.

I think I'd rather have heavier periods than gain weight.

Back down about .6 today. They didn't have the dessert I wanted. I had a salad and an artichoke for dinner. A glass of scotch and a beer.

It would be easy to blame mirena for my weight... But, I feel pretty strongly that it's diet related for me.
