Lanark, do you feel comfortable with the principal to have a private conversation about this with her?  Maybe put it in the perspective of:

Thank you so much for all the goodies for teacher work day.  It was a real temptation for me because I'm trying to lose a few pounds and get fitter before my wedding.  I know this subject has been on your mind too, since you lost your dear husband last year.   Could we maybe start a Get Healthy program for the staff so we can focus on better food and exercise choices?  Maybe a lunchtime or before work walking club? It would be so helpful to me to have my coworker's support.

That way you're not preaching or complaining, but requesting help and offering suggestions.

DH ate the entire package of Oreos already.  He asked if I'd eaten any, saying the package couldn't possibly have disappeared that fast unless we were both eating them.  Ha!  I didn't eat any.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

The damn dog stole my waffles this morning, so I'm having clementines for breakfast. I have yogurt for my morning snack, too, so I can eat that if the clementines don't hold me.

Last day of work before Spring Break - yay!

Anyone have any ideas on how to get DH on board with weight loss?

What is brown butter?

You let the solids brown before you cook in it. It gets very nutty tasting.

L, I have yhe same issues at work. Someone always brings something in!

Oh, we always called that burning the butter and considered it a mistake.  But now I see that it's an actual culinary technique.  Awesome!  Next time I mess up the eggs I'm telling them, "Enjoy the nutty flavor of my skillfully prepared beurre noisette."   :D

:d Well, like anything, it has a place. It was great paired with the stronger flavors of the brussles sprouts and the shallots as a savory, hearty, dinner dish. With a delicate scramble? Maybe notsomuch. It "breaks" the butter so that you end up with distinct solids and oil- which works sometimes and not others.

We are meeting a friend for dinner at a pizza place so I am trying to eat light and healthy today. Wish me luck in making good choices tonight. I need to figure out how many ww points are in a slice of pizza.

You can do it MM! Eat a filling snack before you go. Then eat a big salad when you get there.

Pizza is a big point of weakness for me!

Depends on the kind of pizza. I try to avoid it just because there are so many variables. :( I love pizza.

I've had my yogurt and 2 damn clementines today. I cannot *wait* for lunch. I've never been so excited about a PB&J before.

I love pizza. I think it is avg 350 cals/slice.  i am sure WW has points on line somewhere for pizza. If it is a chain, you can check out online resources.

I usually work from home on Fridays but not today.  I didn't have much food left to bring with me so I packed an apple, banana, and greek yogurt and figured I'd pick up something for lunch.  I had to run over to Staples and on the way back I passed a Panera.

I have been so hungry all the damn time lately with all this marathon training and boxing and stuff, but I'm trying so hard to make good choices because I do not want to gain any weight.  So I drove past the Panera and went to the grocrey store and picked up what turned to be a gross ass salad with pieces of grilled chicken.  Well the salad part was okay but the chicken was awful.  I really longed for Panera.  But I smothered the chicken in the low cal dressing and ate it anyway.   That combined with the yogurt filled me up at least.  I am just pissed at that gross salad.

I want something delicious for dinnner!

Oh that sucks! :( I hope you get something extra yummy tonight!

And Mini, thanks for the idea. They actually tried to get something like that started this year (workout/walking groups), but I think people just weren't motivated enough. I've only got 9 more weeks of working here, not counting spring break!, so I should just keep my mouth shut. I had some of the scrambled eggs and a tiny bit of grits when I went down. They were giving out snacks in all 4 meeting and I took some pretzels in this last one to eat with my (plain) swiss on 9 grain sandwich from home. I don't feel too terrible, though pretzels are very carby with pretty much no nutritional value. Bah!

But of all the junky snack foods, pretzels do the least damage.  And they are just so delicious.

nothing worse than a crappy ass meal :(

I know when i ran my first marathon, i was soooo hungry that i gained weight. This has been a struggle since. Somewhere between the "i am hungry from all the training" and "i ran xx miles i deserve to eat this yummy thing" is the middle ground i strive to find :D

I am hoping to see some movement on the scale some time soon. I am trying my best to be patient, but no real movement in over a month? i know my hormones are wacky (forgot to add the night sweats) but SHEESH!!!!!!! I guess if  see no change in the next couple weeks i may go to the dr or something. i really do not know what to do and i do not want to do anything drastic (like really cut my calories) but i am getting realllllly annoyed. I am sorry for being such a debbie downer here! but i tried to balance it out iwth my comic i posted yesterday that no one else thought was as funny as i did :D

Meri, seeing a nutritionist or a doctor would probably be awesome for you since you are in such a unique situation:
-Vegan
-Ultrarunner
-Weaning.

Your body has a lot going on right now!   Maybe a professional can offer new insight or suggest changes.

Hi all!!

MM, can you just not have pizza and opt for a salad???

Lancashire, try getting a foam roller for your legs and butt. It works out the tightness and really helps with itbs. Are you doing the Jillian program with all the discs??

RA, date nights are not held to the same rigorous standard as non date nights. Enjoy!!

I am holding steady weight wise... I don't think I will make goal weight before Maui. I am doing great on exercise though and my food choices have been pretty good. Apparently I am in maintenance mode!!

Meri... I think Caito had a great point about a nutritionist/doctor.
I can't imagine your frustration.

Caito, I was just thinking about you and the boxing yesterday!  How's that going?

It's awesome!  I am definitely improving, but of course I still have a long way to go.  I'm landing good punches though!   It's amazing how running a long distance seems totally managable, but a 30 minute boxing workout  -- even a 2 minute round -- just totally kicks my ass.    For now while I'm focused on running, we're just doing fun drills and stuff.  I'm not really focusing on preparing to get in a ring with anyone or anything like that.

I'm still lifting weights too and have been increasing the weight lately, so that combined with all the running I feel like I am just a furnace burning through food.  I think I've slimmed down a bit, but since I'm constantly hungry (even more so than usual!)  it's been a challenge to know what I NEED to eat as opposed to what I WANT to eat.

We are meeting a friend for dinner at a pizza place so I am trying to eat light and healthy today. Wish me luck in making good choices tonight. I need to figure out how many WW points are in a slice of pizza.

I asked my WW leader how much a slice of pizza from a pizzeria like we all go to here in NY is and she said 7 for a plain cheese slice. Your pizzas may vary.
I have two slices of veggie pizza at my bike club board meeting once a month with no guilt whatsoever. Veggies are free. Almost every week after that meeting I have had a loss at the scale.
MM, you are supposed to use those weekly points! They are there to make the plan livable. That said, Saturday is your weigh in day so don't overdo.
