Scale is holding steady - considering the amount of crud in my sinuses, I'll take it. Eating has been okay, but haven't been able to exercise since I got sick and it's getting frustrating. I'm contemplating the gym tonight, but I'll have to see how I feel towards the end of the work day.

My boss gave me a box of Thin Mints for Valentine's Day.

I'm hoping they make it home to my freezer.

Anywho, DD is staying home from school today which means most likely no run for me

I usually drop her off at school and squeeze a run in before work. If I can get her to nap early, before i go to work, maybe i can hop on the TM. sigh.

Yeah, the box is sitting on my desk, taunting me. So far, so good, though. Doesn't help that the prednisone is making me mildly twitchy, so I want to demolish everything in my path right now. If I can just get the damn things to the freezer, they'll be safe, and so will I.

Re-gift or don't open them at all until you next have company over. They will probably taste like sinus anyway if you are still sick. If they don't, you are healthy enough to hit the gym!

I'm not regifting my Thin Mints!!!! The sinus issue is actually what's keeping me from digging in - I don't want to ruin them with the taste of crud. It's weird, though, if I can get them to the freezer, I have a pretty good shot at forgetting they're in there, and then rationing them out.

*sigh* I'm pretty mad at myself right now. The eating part of this has been pretty easy for the past 7 weeks and then all of a sudden? Gah! I just can't keep my sh1t together. I don't know what is wrong with me. Maybe I need to go back to the beginning of the diet and recallibrate myself. Yesterday was going just fine until I split two cupcakes with dd (quality control, you know) and tasted way too much of the icing. She ended up with almost 4 dozen cupcakes so I brought a dozen to work today. I'm having a weirdly difficult time not eating one. I have zero self control. This diet has worked for me because I haven't had to have self control... for whatever reason that piece is eluding me this week.

Maybe I'm subconsciously stress eating in anticipation of my mom's visit this weekend.

I've been there RA, and, like you, I don't know what triggers it. In your case, it could easily be your mom's upcoming visit, though. Is there something else you can do to allay your anxieties about the visit? Maybe that will take the edge off the need to eat?

I'm not usually an emotional eater. I actually feeling relativey zen about my mom visiting. I think. Although sometimes I lie to myself about stuff like that.

Do you think maybe it is because you kind of feel ok with the weight you are now? I think sometimes when we reach mini goals we sort of feel like we have done enough and we lose some of that drive to keep going.

I am glad you are feeling zen about your mom visiting though.

I do think that could be part of it. I'm really *not* where I want to be though! That is what's frusterating. I did say at one point that I was going to take a break after the first 8 weeks and maybe I will. I am finding it harder to be as strict and also finding it easier to pick up that glass of wine, etc.

Yeah, but you've also been working really hard at this. Is there a way for you to allow the occasional indulgence without going totally off-track? I'm being really strict right now, because, to me, junk food is as heroin is to a junkie. I get one hit and I'm fucked.

I feel like I'm kind of in the same boat. I think I've just gotten into kind of a lazy rut where I can't be bothered to make myself a sandwich for lunch or whatever and then I end up hungry and then I can't control myself. I wouldn't feel so bad about it if my weight weren't totally and completely stalled. I have bounced around within a 2-3 lb range since the end of the wlc.

I will say this, though - I have laid off the junk food, but not so much with the alcohol. I can have a glass of wine at dinner, or a can of cider, and be fine with that. I am NOT capable, though, of eating only one Reese's Mini, or one normal pack of Skittles, or a small bag of chips.

Oh, yeah, generally I have no problem limitting myself to a glass of wine. But... I do think I've seen a positive impact on my ability to actually sleep at night since I've cut even that out of my diet. But, I found this weekend that it's *very* easy for me to slip back into the habit of a glass of wine or a beer a night. I just need to rein it in. I feel like I'm on a pretty slippery slope and it would be pretty easy for me to slip back into old habits... mostly in the evening. Breakfast and lunch are easy. BUT, that was how I maintained for a long time last time- and once I was off the wagon in the evening it became very easy for portion sizes to creep back up and then to go out for lunch a few times a week and there I am... right back where I started.

I'm just kind of having a

in general though. I was ready to throw in the towel by 6:30 this morning (I got her at 6:10). It's been one fire-drill after another... with no signs of quitting yet!

RA...while you guys were doing the wlc over the holidays I was on "hiatus" from my eating. I started back to my nightly wine etc and it felt like I really needed that break! Don't beat yourself up if your needing a breather.
The key is not to take such a long breakthat it is impossible to get back at it.

I survived my HIIT class. I was the strongest one there, and busted a move! I am going to he very sore tho. It is mostly core work at high intensity. I figured it is only a half an hour so I will push. I have to say that jillian's workouts had me pretty well prepared!

It's hard, it is very hard, and then i get bitter like "why can everyone else eat whatever they want and i cannot unless i want to weigh 800lbs?" and go on this big pity party, which leads to emotional eating, etc. I do fine for a while, then i get mopey. Well, i made the cake. i liked the frosting bowl. i will eat a sliver tonight, and hopefully that is it!

Yeah, someone just mentioned they brought a Chocolate Mousse Cake to the break room.

I'm trying really, really hard to avoid it. If there's any left after lunch, I might allow myself a small slice. Maybe.

I've also been really paying attention to portion sizes at dinner, and have found that I'm perfectly happy with a normal-sized portion. If a recipe is supposed to serve 6, I do not need to eat half of it. Neither does DH, but that's his ass to worry about.

RA, are you at a point where you could work a cheat day in on a regular basis? That way, on a day like today, you know that it's going to be your cheat day and then tomorrow you're right back on track?

This is huge for me. I still struggle with this. Even though I know in my head that even 1/2 of the portion size with a big salad is enoug for me. That voice inside my head is saying, "oh, no, you really want another piece of cheese, just one more scoop", etc. So, I'm forever promising myself an extra portion if I'm really still hungry. The thing is that I feel like I already do that. At least one meal a week where I'm eating out. In general, I've felt pretty happy and satisfied with what I'm eating. I really haven't been excercising great self control. So, that's why these past few days has been kind of crazy.
