Pork tenderloin and bell pepper stir-fry for dinner tonight, with yellow rice. Mmmmm. I didn't go back for seconds, even though I wanted to, but that means there's enough for lunch tomorrow or Wednesday.

You guys only hafta set goals if you wanna set goals!

Do we want to have a weigh in day? I would like to move it to wed or fri.

Carmelized and onion and a couple of shallots. Threw in about 10 garlic cloves. Then a head of broccoli rabbe. Deglazed with a bit of wine and a bit of balsamic. Eating half tonight with two fried eggs and half tomorrow- maybe with tomato sauce and pasta.

I would be game. I finally cracked the 140 mark and am trying for another 5 pounds. It would be nice to have the extra motivator. I'm trying to get started running again, though that's been a bit of mess so far.

I've got goals; really hoping for 7-10 lbs. by the end of March but not sure if that will happen with BFing. I'm really hoping to add in some consistent exercise but am really struggling with how to make it fit in our family schedule with work.

And for me.  I cracked it the second-to-last week.

I may borrow your goal, RA.  It's attainable but still challenging.

I think my goal for the end of March will be non-scale related.  I am wearing a horribly unflattering pair of wool pants today.  I'm wearing them because they're warm.  So by the end of March, I want them to be too big and I can feel justified giving them to the Salvation Army and getting a better fitting and more flattering pair in the Fall.

And I want to keep pursuing the goal of rockin' abs.

I'm three pounds from a major milestone.  Given my body's response around major milestones, I'll probably hop up and down the same 2 pounds for the next week or so.  Down 1 today, same as Saturday and Sunday.

Shuffled this morning. :sleepy: :luvcoffee:

Fruit smoothie and waffles for breakfast. Last night's leftovers for lunch. Dinner should be soup and grilled cheese. Gym tonight, unless my trainer has to cancel.

I am very hungry today, and something in the office smells like food.

i love baking. i used to work as a pastry chef (how i got fat in college) and if i bake now, i cannot keep my hands off the frosting!

I mean this in a complimentary, not snarky way, but based on what you write here, I have a hard time imagining you eating garbage.  You'd probably shudder at the stuff I eat (though I'm trying to eat healthier...I do eat a lot of nutritious stuff, but a LOT of bad, too).

I'm down 1 pound and inching closer to my goal - one pound to go!

However; Mini said something about a milestone and now I'm wondering if it should be a milestone instead of a goal.  I'm switching over to milestone for now as I think I like the mental imagery better.  A goal is sort of like an end, and an end means you're kind of done and I don't think I can ever be done.  A milestone means I can get there, move on and come back, back track a little and head back toward the milestone, or maybe even move on to the next milestone.  Right now my super-long term goal/milestone is to reach a certain weight (and I'm not sure what this is yet, so milestone works better than goal), maintain it (a huge milestone in itself) and really change my eating habits.  The last one has been the most elusive and I'm certain it has a lot to do with mindset.  I love food, I love cooking, and have made a hobby out of cooking/baking all sorts of new and great things.  Not all of those things belong on the healthful eating list, so that milestone would be to balance the healthful eating with the occasional decadent who-cares eating.  I've tried the constant decadent who-cares eating with exercise and it didn't balance!  :-[

RA and Lanarkshire talked about this earlier, but I too have noticed how rich foods are now.  I think with too much decadent eating, I lost sight of how rich some foods really are.  After really limiting the types of food I was eating, even yogurt started tasting sweet and rich.  I think this is a better place to be in order to maintain a healthful eating lifestyle.  I don't want to give up the decadent food altogether (I could never!  :D ), but a lot less of it (both in frequency and because now it's VERY rich) will be very good things for me.

Also, after all of that, I like the check-in, but I suspect a perpetual one will lose its effectiveness.

Help!!!!

I'm going out to dinner tomorrow night for a friend's birthday. This is the dinner menu: http://www.cipollina-austin.com/storage/DinnerMenurevised1-11-12.pdf

What should I get? I don't eat seafood. No way, no how, no exceptions. I will likely get a glass or two of wine, and I'm guessing there will also be some kind of dessert. If it's shared, I can just eat a small sliver of something, but I need to assume that I'll be drinking wine and eating dessert, so dinner itself needs to be on the lighter side of things.

I would be up for another defined challenge if someone wants to run it. I will help start the daily threads.  :D

I'm working on milestones also, rather than goals. I don't *know* ultimately where I'll decide the my right weight is. We'll see. My first milestone was getting under 140. My next milestone will be 135. The next one after that is 125. Then, not sure. I will either try and stay there or just see where my weight ends up on its own. I have long struggled to get under 140- so I'm guessing it might be a battle to get to 135. It's been a very long time since I've been there though- so hard to know.

I'd go for the octopus, followed by tri-tip and eat every fry, but that's just me.

Healthiest non-seafood choice?  Tomato bisque, followed by the pork chop.  I make the decision mainly on the fact that the salads have nuts and cheese in them (extra calories) so unless the bisque is 50% butter and cream, it should be good.  Likewise with the main courses.  The sides offered with the pork chop are the least starchy/cheesy.

Dessert?  Avoid cheesecake and select apple pie but if it's a birthday outing there will likely be cake.  Eat and enjoy!

I have also found that replacing potatoes or rice with steamed veggies is an option most restaurants will allow.  So the wagyu tri-tip with substituted veggies for the fries and that's not a bad meal either.

eta:  if it were me though, I'd skip the salad or soup if I was planning on the wine and dessert.  But really if it were me, I'd skip the wine.  I don't like it enough to drink those calories.  I'd rather have a salad or more dessert!  :D

Thanks, Mini! I don't know that anyone is bringing cake, so dessert will likely just be off the dessert menu. There is no apple pie listed, but there is a lemon tart - I'm thinking that be the better choice? http://www.cipollina-austin.com/storage/menus/Desserts_Web.pdf

I'd probably have said to hell with it and gone with the tri-tip and fries, too, but I'm trying to do better!!!

That's a good idea, y-m - I'll ask about subbing veggies for fries. This is why I'm trying to plan ahead. Otherwise, I'll be trying to decide after a long day at work and a glass of wine, and that's just a recipe for disaster.
