1km indoor runTechnically today was another off day. But I played around with my watch settings to get it to continue recording in my fitness app even when it’s on the charger. (The watch battery won’t last as long as my upcoming run is scheduled for!)After farting around with it for the last week or so, it looks like I have all the correct settings now for “game day”. p.s. when I say indoor run I don’t mean the treadmill. I mean running back and forth down the hall. F the treadmill.
What watch do you have?
Apple Watch (Series 10)Apples are good watches but have never been known for stellar battery life. I figure I’ll get 8-10 hours per charge and am planning to charge twice during the race. Cause… gotta have all my data!
I think all smart watches have a similar battery life issue. I used to run with the Pixel Watch 3 and it did a nice job with all my stats but there were two things that made me decide to switch to a dedicated running watch. One was the battery life and the other was the absence of a physical button to start, stop, and pause which made it a hassle in rain or sweaty conditions and sometimes it would give me issues starting races. So I switched to the COROS Pace Pro and it addresses the physical button thing and way exceeded my battery life expectations. It does just as good a job, if not better, than the Pixel did and the battery lasts like two weeks and not one and a half days.Anyway, I never really did much of the other smart stuff the Pixel watch did so I'm thrilled I made the switch. COROS has variety of different ones and I'm sure Garmin does too.
I’ve kinda been there done that with Garmin (to be fair that was multiple product generations ago, but it sounds like others keep having nagging issues with them that sound like my experience back in the day.)I might look at getting a Coros on my next training cycle (especially if I do another ultra this fall — tbd!)
