I'm making this today for our TD dessert:

http://www.odelicesdemyriam.com/archives/2014/01/11/28912030.html

The recipe is in French, but using google translate makes it very easy to follow. I've made the kind with only the frangipane, but this one has creme patisserie layer in it. Should be really good!

DD is making pumpkin pie tomorrow. DS is making macaroni and cheese (unplanned in my original menu but it's always welcomed when the kids volunteer to make something they like).

I'm oil p-aching turkey breast instead of duck. I have a hard time finding duck breast in our area.

I have some last minute items I need to take to Bmore tomorrow and don't want to have to buy them there.

My shopping list:
Wine (white/red/bubbly)
Prime rib (5 lbs)
macaroni pasta
half and half/milk
gruyere for mac/cheese

Antipasti and cheese for appetizers

Turkey with a shallot mushroom gravy
Stuffing without raisins
Roasted root vegetable salad
Steamed green beans with sweet onion vinaigrette
Parmesan mashed potatoes (I didn't want to do mashed, but apparently Thanksgiving would fall apart without them)
Homemade dinner rolls

Persimmon pumpkin pie
Chocolate espresso cookies (my friend is bringing those)
Fruit and cheese

Plus, all the wine and Prosecco my guests can drink.

*burp*

I'm making green bean casserole. But it's an Alton brown recipe. Not the one from the side of the french's fried onion box.
I did do that last year. It was my first time ever making it and DH really wanted it. I thought the recipe on the side of the box would be good since so many people use it. Uh, no. It was so yuck and I had to cook it for so long until the beans were actually cooked. So of course I was shocked when there was none left at the end of the meal. Insure didn't eat any of it. I told DH we need to always invite those same people. If they like that green bean casserole then they will like anything!

It's just going to be kenyan and I, and neither of us are big into turkey dinner.  However, there must be leftover turkey sandwiches on homemade rolls!  I am making:

Roasted turkey breast
Mashed potatoes
Rolls
Some kind of roasted veggies, maybe carrots and broccoli.  Haven't decided yet.
Corn for kenyan

I'm making a chocolate cream pie and a blueberry pie for my family get-together on Friday, so I'll probably increase each recipe just a bit and make a single serving of each for Thursday.  It would be so much easier if kenyan and I liked the same kind of pie.

roast beets, parsnips, potatoes, carrots
arugula, parm, lemon salad
mushroom and leek dressing
maple pecan tarts/slab pie
dutch (or amish, still deciding) apple pie

malbec, garnacha, bourbon

We aren't going anywhere for thanksgiving this year. I am a bit sad about it actually.  So deciding what to make for dinner if anything at all.  The only other time I have not seen my family on Thanksgiving i had friends over...all of those friends have plans this year.  so sad for me.  There will only be 2.5 of us so making a turkey is just too much food, unless we can find a dwarf turkey (I like dark meat, so not making only a breast.)

Thinking about making sirloin steak. Yum. or maybe a lasagna.

I'm a little sad that there will be no dark meat for me since I'm just making a breast.  I'm taking some rolls to my coworker, maybe she'll give me some leftover dark meat since her family are not big turkey fans.

DH doesn't care for turkey so I just do whole chickens. I used to do just a turkey breast because he will eat that, but they don't have just the breast here. It's all or nothing.

We're going to a friend's house, which is a blessing since I'm not up for the planning (I usually enjoy throwing TDay dinner)

I'm making:
spiced nuts
haricot vert
mashed potatoes (have to figure out a way to make them that won't be awful for reheating)
pumpkin cheesecake

Pioneer Woman has a recipe for mashed potatoes that has you reheat them in the oven.  If I were doing it I would just make them the morning of and stick them in the crock pot to keep them warm, but I guess that depends on how far in advance you want to make them and how far away your friends live.

I have made them for the last several years 2 days ahead and they're amazing the day of.  Still creamy and just what you would expect if you made them day of.

In addition to those potatoes I'm making:

Roast Turkey
Cauliflower Gratin (Ina Gartens recipe)
Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Kale & Pomegranate seed salad w/ a lemon vinaigrette.  It also has goat cheese, avocado and chopped pecans.
Gravy

I have my Mom making stuffing.  MIL making cranberry sauce.  Sister in charge of pies.

Roast turkey, haven't decided yet how to spiffy it up a bit.  Thinking garlic.
Proscuitto wrapped asparagus
Cremini mushroom kabobs
Mashed cauliflower
Coconut milk homemade Cherry Garcia.

Ok, forecast says anything from rain/1-3 inches of snow to 8-12 inches  :skep: So either way, I gotta plan to cook a full meal just in case we cannot travel Thursday.

Mashed potatoes
this sweet potato salad i made last year and i think i was the only one who liked it :D Omitted nuts http://www.homesicktexan.com/2011/11/sweet-potato-salad-cranberries-and.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+HomesickTexan+%28Homesick+Texan%29

homemade green bean casserole (recipe i used last year with br rice flour http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2013/11/12/recipe-green-bean-casserole-french-fried-onions/comment-page-2/#comments)

pumpkin cranberry cake http://mjr.earthbalancenatural.com/recipe/pumpkin-cranberry-spice-cake/

Lentil main dish, but probably butternut squash instead of sweet potatoes http://www.eatliverun.com/spicy-lentils-with-sweet-potatoes-and-kale/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+eatliverun+%28Eat,+Live,+Run%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher
