Similar, but the cycle is 60 days (think Whole60).  Also, it's not as narrowly focused on food as the Whole30 program.  The things you track include food, exercise, stretching, supplementation, and a grab bag of "lifestyle" challenges.  Also, it's got a baked in social component.  People form teams, compete with each other, post in forums, blog about their experience, etc.  There seems to be a close relationship with the Crossfit movement as most of the teams are composed of people who belong to a particular crossfit box (gym).

We all do!

Not me. I loved it. Had to wean myself off tracking after a while. I kind of miss it.

I know, I'm weird.

Good luck with the challenge, diablita!

I wouldn't say I love it, but I do find the structure comforting.  I have it boiled down to a very easy method and it seems to work pretty well.  Basically it's food group servings, just not the "recommended" ones.

no more than:
one serving of grains
three fruit
two meat
unlimited non-starchy veggies.
sometimes a serving of nuts, but not every day.

I don't measure the fat I use on the above, butter or salad dressings or whatnot.

I have royally screwed up my metabolism by being a fat youngun. If I dont track every little bite and eat super low cal with working out each day I wont lise weight. Weight watchers means I will be constantly hungry. Grrr.

Sis and I also had to wean ourselves from years of obsessive WW tracking.
I removed all of my weight using the points tracker from 2001.... Still carry my old original around in my purse!!
Don't use it for anything but the "reminder" of fatness past. ;)

Meh. Back on the healthy eating bandwagon to try and keep 7lbs from turning into a lot more than that. Day 1 and I'm hungry and missing candy. Wah.

Thanks D! Today is a little easier. Though... still grumpy.

How's the whole30 going?

:)

I'm really doing great and enjoying this thoroughly!  And I've lost 3 pounds.

I'm snacking on (homemade) trail mix right now.  :)

Nice!

My scale says I'm down about 4 but I'm skeptical.

Did you even have 4 to lose?? I'm now down 4 as well despite what turned into a PMS trail mix binge last night. The fact that I am bloated and weigh this is making me happy

I'm thinking about splurging one night and having a forbidden item but not yet. We lose one point per item but if its a combo of non-compliant foods (e.g., slice of pizza is flour plus cheese) it's still one point lost per serving. We'll see. I discovered yesterday that TJ's brown rice pasta is compliant (just brown rice and water) and that's sated my pasta craving a little. I made the most fabulous eggplant sauce to go with it (from "Plenty", GREAT cookbook) and loved it.

No pasta is tough!! Is it wheat-free? Can you do corn? TJ's corn pasta is pretty good and doesn't have a lot of junk in it. But, no idea if it complies or not.

7 to what I consider my maintenance weight. 12 to where I'm happiest (which is hard to maintain). Which I realize seems silly to even worry about. But, I sleep better at night if I'm not worrying about whether the weight is creeping back on. And, getting on the scale at the dr office was an unhappy surprise. I was probably up even more than that between the holidays and recent work travel. In which I Indulged. I've been trying to rein it in without going full austerity measures and I do think it was working. But, I was relying on running 30+ mpw, which I can't do right now. So, austerity it is! ;)

I had forgotten how much volume and how frequently this plan calls for eating. I feel like I'm constantly shoving food in my face. It's a little disconcerting. Especially because I'm adding in extra calories to compensate for my workouts. But, I'm trying not to think about it and just eat when I'm supposed to.  :D

My fridge is stuffed full of veggies. Admittedly, I've been terrible about cooking at home, beyond eggs, the past 18 months or so. So, I'm trying. But- sheesh! It's a lot of veggies. Usually a cup of cooked veggies and 2 cups of salad. I'm not being as careful about things like oil and dressing as the plan calls for because I can't run the super low calories of the plan. I'm more just trying to eat in the general fashion (and avoid candy, booze, etc).

You're always an inspiration to me. And yes, I can have corn at the Beginner level and thanks for reminding me to check the corn pasta. It's good too! Toughest part is still no cheese.

I'm definitely eating more healthy fat (e.g., hummus, avocado) and worrying less about counting calories!
