For my own curiosity can you ask your naturopath about probiotics next time you see her? I am curious as to her response.

Absolutely.  I'm going to be trying them in the meantime, I think.

I am going to start probiotics.  I have IBS, and now that you all have brought it up, I feel kind of silly that I hadn't tried before.  Will report back.

I bought some kefir with probiotics today!

But I'd guess that to be regular (heh) about it, taking a supplement/pill is probably the way to go, huh?

I started taking them around xmas after 2 close together stomach flus.

I am not superwoman...yet. :D   But I have noticed that my heartburn has lessened a bit. I still have it, but it isn't as bad as it has been.
Could be completely coincidental...who knows.

The one thing I was told is to NOT take them with anything hot, especially tea or coffee, as that will kill the bacteria.

W00t!

I haven't gotten on the scale yet after vacation.  Tomorrow's the deadly day.  I've eaten well this week, just in portions that are a we bit bigger than they should be.  I've been hungry, and given vacation portions it's been challenging to scale back.

After two weeks of super religious myfitnesspalling, my scale is budging, too. The first week I was starving because I was used to eating soooo much more.

I am always starving and am telling myself that i am not feeling hunger, but it really feels like hunger! LOL. Anywho, laying in bed at night browsing pinterest makes me super hungry too, i feel so silly because i complain to Dh that i am hungry in bed, but here i am looking at pinterest, doh.

And cross your fingers DD did not get sick from her friend yesterday. They were hugging and playing together all day and today her friend is very sick. UGH..

Fingers crossed that the germs did NOT transfer.

And I'm laying in bed looking at Pinterest and getting hungry too!  Ha!

 :fingers:

I made the most delicious garbanzo salad tonight for dinner tomorrow.  And it was so satisfying: I always buy canned beans but I actually made these from dry and they're so easy and so good.  Why did I never do this before???

The bean salad marinates overnight but it's basically garbanzos with red onion, red pepper and a lemon/parsley vinaigrette with lots of garlic and a splash of cumin and paprika to give it a bit of Moroccan flavor.

mmmmm that sounds amazing!

Home-made beans are soooooooo much better than canned. Night and day. They also freeze really well, so you can just make a pot here and there and stick 'em in the freezer. I usually freeze them in 1-2 cup portions.

yes, i freeze the extras. I made a whole big batch of chickpeas in the pressure cooker the other night and they were so sweet and tasty freshly made. No more cans ever!
