Well shit.  Maybe we can be made into a sticky.

Everything has been crazy today.   The kids & DH & myself have just had an off day.

I just had to have a throw down with DH about not being an asshole, even a quiet, seething, passive-aggressive one, to our child. I'd give anything for some ice cream right now.

Nooooooo. Step away from the ice cream. That will not solve anything.

Now chocolate. That'll work miracles.

We don't actually have any ice cream right now, so I couldn't even if I wanted to. And I want that number on the scale tomorrow more than I want the leftover chocolate cross (yes, really) from Easter.

I'm proud of you, debba.  That number tomorrow is going to look very good.

LOL!!! I'm still befuddled by the concept of a chocolate cross. Isn't it vaguely sacrilegious to nom on the symbol of Jesus's death? My sister bought it.

I'm proud of you, debba.  That number tomorrow is going to look very good.

 :-[ Thanks. I really hope you're right.

It's not sacrilegious if it means someone somewhere can make some $$$!

Quick question unrelated to chocolate crosses: How often do y'all weigh yourselves? I pretty much do it every morning. Just to see the fluctuations in relation to what I have eaten.

Every morning. Usually before I go to bed, too, just to get a sense of how much things fluctuate over a day and night. Sometimes before AND after I shower. Sometimes when I get home from work....

It's a little obsessive, but ultimately, the number that counts is the one on Saturday morning, and the others are just sort of... to keep it at the front of my mind. I have a long way to go, so if I don't stay focused on it, I'll never get there.

Okay.. see I was wondering if I was doing it too often. I am FINALLY losing some weight, and I like seeing that number go down, even if by just a half pound.

Yep.  I check the scale at least daily and generally more.

I also have leftover Halloween candy.  Candy never gets old, right?

It's my brother's birthday today and he requested my Pavlova instead of cake.  It feels weird to break the tradition of mom's cakes. I'm gonna need a run today.

I did it! New decade!!! I lost 2 pounds from last week and am 1.5 into the new decade! :w00t:

The only bummer is that WW took away a point as a "reward." :D

So can anyone join this thread? I just started WW last week for the very first time. The breaking point was seeing some awful photos of me lately. And verging into sizes that I have never worn. I am sick of feeling lousy and I want to feel better.

I alternate between feeling positive for doing something concrete like joining WW, and feeling like a loser for having to sign up for a formal program instead of just eating better and exercising.

Hi, cgraz, and welcome!!! Lots of us here have been where you are, so no worries. I do WW (clearly), and sometimes it's frustrating that I can't just make good choices on my own, but I've found that, the more I follow the program, the better I do when I *don't* have an obvious, "WW-approved" choice in front of me. It really is about learning. :)

Awesome, you smashed that goal!

Thanks, radial!

Thanks debba! Those loser feelings are not popping up that often, and I am getting some positive encouragement from my sister (she's done it before and raves that she LOVES WW) and another friend/colleague who I talk to daily (has also done it before and wants to get back on it). Plus, a friend of a friend is one of the WW online editors and (even though she has probably never needed WW and never will!) she is super encouraging and told me about things like the scanner app, which is really cool. She says to please read the articles online because she has pretty much had a hand in most of them.  :)

I did make some adjustments after the first week - the default had me starting at 26 points and that just didn't seem like enough. Meals had to be pretty tightly planned and there was no room for a snack at any point. I do like veggies and fruits, ok, but am trying to incorporate more. For me, having that pool of weekly points is something I hate to dip into and I'd rather budget my daily points consistently. So I bumped myself up to 28 and then lowered my weekly pool accordingly. We'll see. I'm also wary that later, when I hit goals, points would be reduced - no way can I go lower than 26! I think I would be starving.

One thing I'm struggling with in general is that I don't like anything with artificial sweeteners, and lots of their recipes call for that kind of thing, plus it costs me more points...but I'm not willing to budge on that. I will make do with eating less of those kinds of things or budgeting them into days where I have activity points.

And I can't yet give up the little bit of sugar and half & half in my coffee. I'm already on decaf (have been mostly decaf for almost a year), so if I give up that, I think I'll lose my shit.  :P

Oh, and so far I lost 2.8 lbs, and that's with a party that we went to on Saturday night (the first day I signed up!) where I had a hard time figuring out what I ate, but with 3-4 vodka tonics, I definitely splurged - never mind the apps and small slice of birthday cake.

great job, Debba! welcome Cgraz :) good to see you here!

I do not eat artificial sugars and even stevia i do not like the taste of. I have not done WW in ages, so i cannot help there, but hopefully it will get easier for you. I know I ate a lot of egg whites when i was on WW :D Egg whites and salsa  :eyeroll:
