have fun in Vegas, MM!

Tricia-- when are you running or planning to run during the day? I find the earlier in the day, the less excuses. There is really nothing else to do at 5am.

Tricia, I'm in your shoes, so to speak. I have the shoes. The alarm(s) are set. All I have to do is get up and run.  :sidesplit:

Yeah.

That said, I'm going to have to shake up my plan for next week. My trainer told me last night he's going to have me do some treadmill work on Tuesdays for a while, so I don't want to run Tuesday mornings. I think I'm going to try yoga on Tuesdays instead. We'll see. I need to think about it some.

Like someone else mentioned, maybe it's time to try something different?  Like, run some times, but maybe bike/spin, lift weights, etc instead?  I needed to shake up my routine for a long time, I was just bored with running, I guess.

I think you're right. I might be bored. I run in pretty much the same areas when I do get out there.

Maybe I just need a change of scenery?

Change of scenery always helps me. I'm at a point now where I was getting really frustrated with myself because I'd stalled out at one point in C25K and couldn't seem to get past it. Now that I have (sort of, we'll see how next week goes), I'm looking forward to longer runs.

I get the same way...  I have recently been running on the treadmill while watching stuff on my iPad.  It's less boring.  I've been watching True Blood.  :D  Not boring!

I'm also doing more biking/spinning and weight stuff, and some interval workouts (like body rock or zwow) instead of just steady state cardio.  They are shorter (think 25-35 min most of the time) than a 4-5 mile run.  When I run I do a 5 min run, 1 min walk (ish) thing.  I figure as long as I'm doing something most days of the week, I'm good.

Speaking of, holy moly my group trainer workouts this week were HARD.  I was sore for two full days after the one on Monday, and why I'm not sore right now (from yesterday) is really a mystery.  If ya'll are interested, I can post the workouts here.

My trainer kicked my ASS on Tuesday. Holy shit. And yet, the scale was down this morning. Woot!

I am interested!   :)

Also, the 2nd workout you did may have relieved the soreness from Monday's workout.  I don't know exactly why this happens, but it can feel miraculous.   Must be the blood flow or something.

I'm interested too!

6.2 miles today.  Half on the treadmill and half outside with DH.   Also did a 45 minutes trail walk with David this morning.  He loved it!  So cute and it was just me & him...a little mom/son bonding time.  Good eating so far today... oatmeal with blackberries, yum!

I walked the dog today, for the first time since the first week of April. W00t!

Didn't eat well today,  anxious about DH going away for the weekend.  Not a bing, just nit the best choices.  Sushi for dinner.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

MM, have loads of fun in Vegas!!

Tricia, when I run out of motivation, it is usually because I am putting too much pressure on myself. I have to run 3 miles. Or 5 miles. Or whatever. If I say, you know, I'm just going out there and run walk, or walk or just do something, no matter what, I can usually get my ass out the door.

That said, that did not work this morning!  :(

My eating has been very good this week, and I ran three times. Not great, but not horrible. Running again tomorrow (no really!). I am happy to report that I have not had any soda, chocolate, potato chips or alcolhol since last week Friday. And it's not even hard to abstain right now, yay! It really helps that it there is so much nice fruit to be had right now.

I assume that mcdonalds at 2am qualifies as a bad choice.  That and all the alcohol that led up to that decision.

If only "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" included the calories.  I'm not a wild party girl but I would eat with abandon.  :D

So we took J to the community pool today and had a blast playing with her and swimming around with her.  And I swam a bunch of laps, though I haven't been swimming in forever so it wasn't really much for someone who swims regularly.

I would not worry about a Vegas Bachelorette weekend. Unless you have to call Fionn to bail you out, you should be ok.

Speaking of being hungry, I swam only 20 laps and seem to be famished.  I didn't eat much lunch but am extraordinarily hungry -- is this from the swimming?  If so I may not do that again, as good as it felt.

Are you new at it?  I had the same trouble with swimming.  It was one of the reasons why I quit swimming.  What helped, though, was to drink a LOT while I was swimming.  I think I was hungrier the colder the water was.

I have never been a lap swimmer.  I was on the dive team as a child (so we did warm-ups swimming with the swim team) and am a scuba diver.  But I can't recall ever swimming laps.
For the one sprint tri I did, I didn't train for the swimming portion b/c it was a last minute thing.

I don't get very hungry at all after runs (even long runs) or mountain biking so this is surprising.  In fact, since the swim I've had quite a bit to drink, half a pb&j and some cherries and am still feeling very hungry.  I'll have to give it another try but maybe eat a better lunch beforehand next time.
