DH gets sick (like a run of the mill cold) and will easily miss a week of work. I have never missed work for illness in my life, once for a death in the family and then when i had DD, otherwise, never.

Yeah, I think DH would have stayed home today if he thought he could get away with it. I'd have laughed at him. There's no effing way he is or was that sick. No. Way.

yep. DH has stayed home because he was tired because he did not sleep great. WTF? i can get 1-2 hours of sleep, be up with DD all night and still drag my ass to work!!!!!  :grr: that is the difference of women vs men.

In case you're looking for a very healthy treat, I found that squeezing a lime over fresh canteloupe takes the taste through the roof. Canteloupe is good. Canteloupe drizzled with lime juice is amazing. I use 1 lime per 1/4 canteloupe and eat it with a spoon to make sure I get plenty of lime with each bite. As a bonus, both fruits are incredibly cheap right now.

I will have to try this. I'm not a big fan of cantelope (mostly because we don't get great ones up here).

I'd kick butt if he tried that. Good Lord.

Scale was up a little this morning, but I'm not totally surprised. We haven't exactly been eating well, what with the plague running through the house.

The bouncy house place is great for them to burn energy, glad Reid had fun!

I've talked to DH about how when he gets sick it is always worse than what I had... I think there are some studies that shows men really just can't handle it as well.  It still pisses me off but I just constantly remind him I had the same illness, and *may* enjoy telling him what crappy symptom he'll be experiencing next.   :>D:

I'm glad DH has been running with me lately, that has been nice.   I did 4 miles today while he did 3.5....hot & humid (2pm during nap time - literally only loops around the house).  Then a cool down in the pool.  Eating has been varied.  Homemade strawberry ice cream was good but not so healthy.

I'm interested in trying the lime with canteloupe! It sounds tasty.

I wish I could get DH to run, but he's just not there yet. Oh well. I'll be hot and he... won't.

And OMG, that bouncy house place was the best $7.50 I've ever spent.

There is just so  much media coverage, it is so hard to not be so self conscious. my crew made a joke to me recently that last year they were the "morbidly obese" crew cause everyone out there is so stinkin skinny and fit. It is crazy, but i have a job and a kid, so i try to keep it in perspective, but sheesh.

Meri, you're amazing for being capable of doing Badwater. I can't even run 3 miles straight right now. I'm in awe of you.

And yeah, Reid wouldn't go in any of the bounce houses that had other kids in them - he wanted/needed them all to himself. In his defense, there were a lot of insane bigger kids there, so I kind of don't blame him.

Debba that sucks.  Take it easy so you can recover fully!

D & R prefer the bouncy castle place to themselves, too, so we try to get there the minute it opens...at least it is less crowded then.  Especially during the week.

Meri I know the weigh in is bugging you.  No matter what the scale says you truly are amazing and inspirational to be able to run that many miles.  You are part of an elite group of people - truly outstanding and healthier than a large portion of the population.  I hope you take pride & comfort in that knowledge.

Today I went bathing suit shopping.  I ended up getting 3 full bathing suits that I can mix/match into 8 different looks, and I feel fairly happy in them!  We got into the pool with the kids today for about 45 minutes and they loved it.  I ran in circles in the pool for them to 'swim'.  A good workout.

Planning for an early am run and then going to the toddler gym tomorrow - assuming we all sleep well.

Thanks, Bolloxd. I feel better this morning, but I'm staying home from work today so I can just rest and take it easy. As good news, the scale hit a new low for me this morning!

That's awesome about the bathing suits. I have one, and it's very much an overweight-mom-suit. It's pretty enough, I guess, but... eh. Maybe I'll try to hunt one down later this summer before we go on vacation. We'll see.

btw, thanks for all the kind words, but i know how much better and easier it is to run at 15lbs lighter. And I was a lot happier at that weight. I felt confident, sexy, all my clothes fit, i could wear whatever i wanted and look good, and i never got upset at pics of myself. sigh. sorry about the rant.

ugh, i do not think DH is getting that job offer. 2 interviews, guy calls him Tues afternoon says he is going to check references and give him an offer next day (yesterday). well, DH put an old employer of his down that i thought was a questionable reference, he did not agree with me because he worked for him for 6 years, but i said, the last 2 months he worked for him, DH had a midlife crisis and was a horrific employee. DH thought the guy would see past it, they have talked about it since it occurred, etc. Water under the bridge he said. Well, no job offer and former employer not returning his calls :( I feel really bad for him, but i was like, wtf were you thinking putting that guy's name down? sigh. now i am even more cranky and stressed than before. I gotta get on the Tm and do my second run, but i am fading fast, LOL. Just had tea and a small piece of toast. I am STARVING and fruit just won't cut it, already had my yogurt.

Oh, hell, meri. I hope it works out and maybe the potential new boss is just sidetracked.  :fingers: :fingers: :fingers:

I hopped on the scale, decided that number wouldn't work for me, and went out and bought more Sprite and a pint of ice cream. I'm the only person I know who could possibly gain weight while dealing with a stomach virus. Ice cream was seriously the only thing that sounded good, though. We'll see how it all turns out tomorrow, I guess.

ok, DH got a call that he is waiting to hear back from the third reference which means the questionable one gave him a good rec!  :fingers: :fingers: :fingers: :fingers:
