Thanks, y'all. The barfing has stopped, at least, and he's never had a fever, but he's definitely still not himself. He slept until 8, for one thing, which is unheard of, and then DH went and got his hair cut this morning, Reid and I just watched cartoons. He spent a good chunk of the morning watching TV, laying on me while I laid on the couch, and then at 11.30 he asked to go take a nap. Just woke up about 15 minutes ago. Poor kiddo.

Bolloxd, a bowl of Trix isn't that bad!

Aw, poor little guy.  I'm glad the vomiting has stopped -- has he eaten anything today?

J was great earlier today but we went to lunch with friends and then a hike in the forest and wading in a creek and now she's an overtired crank monster.  Hopefully she'll nap soon; we all need it.

He's eaten, but not nearly as much as he usually does. I'm letting him take the lead on how much and what he wants to eat - I usually do anyway, but sometimes I'll ask him to take a few more bites of something if he says he's done earlier than he usually is.

He's had a bit of blueberry muffin for breakfast, a handful of saltines for a snack/lunch, and a couple pieces of fajita chicken out of his tacos tonight. He can usually eat a full muffin, a sandwich and fruit for lunch, and a full dinner, so this is really nothing for him. But his personality has perked up a lot, so he's definitely on the mend.

Thanks for all the commiseration. I needed it!

That is good though Meri, right?  It means you have to be so close to it when hydrated too.

I did a 9.5 mile run this morning at 6:00 am.  Seriously early for me...I did hit snooze several times.  I made it most of the way and only walked a tiny bit near the end cos of heat.  Knees feel like they've been pounded but otherwise I'm good.  Kids aren't napping and I could really use one myself.

Cooking up some healthy food for dinner.

meri, that totally counts.  :)

Nice work, Bolloxd.  It's seriously hot here.  I was going to rest today but instead took my dog for a walk to the top of the mountain we live on before it got too hot this morning.  It's some serious elevation gain.  Then I pulled weeds in the garden and we did some lawn work, then took her to the pool.

Now DD is napping (sounding a bit better today) and we have friends coming over for dinner later.

I figured this was a good place to post this question... how do you guys deal with making sure you get your workouts in? I find that if I don't absolutely lay down the law (as in "I am going to work out and then I am going to make dinner even if it's getting a little late") it is just not going to happen. My DH is also very much of a "ok come on let's go right now" person, not a planner.  :argh:
Just frustrated right now.
I guess I just have to work out first before I do work stuff or before I post here... or else time will just pass and before I know it I have to drop everything and do something else.

Let me know how the steel cut oats work! I keep meaning to find a crockpot recipe for them and keep forgetting.

Reid... eh, he barfed up his dinner, but otherwise seems fine. And that was almost 48 hours after his last time being sick, so needless to say, I'm befuddled. I also think he gave it to me and DH, but I think we have less spectacular versions. I've just felt queasy all day and have had a raging headache since last night, and no, I'm not pregnant, and DH just informed me rather snappily that HE WASN'T FEELING GOOD EITHER. Like I was just supposed to know that?  :grr:

Anyway, we'll see how I feel in the morning. Blargh, I was really hoping to get a run in.

Deb, so sorry but your DH's comment made me lol.  My DH is generally laid back & happy but anytime he gets snappy it is because he doesn't feel well but sometimes he's not aware he doesn't feel well.  Are ya with me?  So, if he's being a turd I make sure to ask if he feels ok, has a headache, etc...   it's sort of a joke.  If we argue I just mention he must have one hell of a headache.  Because I'm supposed to know!

I hope you guys all recover soon, a sick toddler when you feel like crap too is just pure torture.

LM, the best thing for me to keep up with my workouts is to have a very specific training schedule.  I was strict on myself with the C25K - every other day without missing any workouts - and it got me very well into the habit.  I can skip up to 5 days, although I'd rather not, and still be able to get back into it.  During the kids' nap time is my dedicated time to get things done or exercise.  Since I'm limited to that specific time I don't have a choice.   If I can get up super early, like today, that seems to work well....I'm just not a morning person though.   Without a training schedule or goal, I'm a lot less strict and have to push myself.

Meri, I'm interested in how the oats work too!

I make my steel cuts in the rice cooker.  I haven't tried them in the crockpot yet.  I find that the crockpot makes noise (lid hits ceramic pot) and that would be annoying in the morning, when we are still in bed.

well our kitchen is downstairs from our bedroom, no noise issues. they came out ok, but they were burnt a lot, probably about 1/2 burnt :( they are actually really tasty, but burnt, so probably only like 3 servings, it was supposed to be 7.

In case you're looking for a very healthy treat, I found that squeezing a lime over fresh canteloupe takes the taste through the roof. Canteloupe is good. Canteloupe drizzled with lime juice is amazing. I use 1 lime per 1/4 canteloupe and eat it with a spoon to make sure I get plenty of lime with each bite. As a bonus, both fruits are incredibly cheap right now.

I totally identify with that. Nothing fits me now just as noting fit me when I was fat but I have higher expectations now.

Bolloxd, LOL! Yeah, DH is a big baby when he's sick. I felt like crap yesterday but I still made the grocery list and went to the store with DH and Reid. They went to the park for an HOUR in the afternoon. That was it. And Reid came back with the worst diaper rash ever, because DH didn't take any diapers with him, so when Reid pooped, they just... kept playing.  :mad2: Other than that, they watched car racing all effing day.

So today, when DH moans and whines and carries on as soon as Reid wakes up, I drag out of bed, make coffee, get breakfast going for Reid, flip on Sesame Street, let him watch Chuggington on my computer, and then take him to the park for two hours. We come back for lunch and nap. After nap, I told DH I was taking a shower and to just keep Reid from killing himself. I get out and start getting dressed and I can hear DH yelling at Reid. Dude, he's 2 and a half, just woke up, and is RARING to go. Shut up, DH. So I get Reid dressed and take him to the mall. We spent a few hours at the bouncy house place (inspired by Bolloxd - THANK YOU!), ride the train through the mall, get me some new makeup (Reid got to hold the lady's makeup brushes), and then go to dinner.

DH had the gall to whine about giving Reid a bath. I seriously wondered how many activity points I'd get for kicking his ass. He did make up for it by telling me how grateful he was, but dude. I'm sick? Y'all hang out and watch TV and keep me awake. He gets sick? I bust my ass, even though I'm still getting over being sick, too.

DH is getting direct orders next time.

And the apple pie I had for dessert tonight was worth every damn point.

Debba- story of my life......  :grr:

this is the crock pot oats recipe i made, i think next time, it goes on for 6 hours, not overnight and i forgot to spray the bottom. Anywho, it says 7 servings, it was one cup of oats, to me, that is 4 servings. i would not be able to get 7 servings from 1 cup of steel cut oats! i also only used 1 can of lite coconut milk and one can of water and no butter. http://www.theyummylife.com/Slow_Cooker_Banana_Coconut_Milk_Oatmeal

Thanks, meri! And yeah, sorry about the whining, I was just pissed as hell at DH. He's still whining as of this morning, even though he's fine. If he's still at it when I get home tonight...
