For some reason I have a hard time finding something that looks appetizing and is also healthy at the same time.  It could just be me though.

I think that's my problem too. Also, I realized when I cook, I generally will cook healthier, so when I see a "healthy" option I usually think, "I can make this better than they can." I also don't fry things, so crispy fried chicken tenders always sound soooo good, since my homemade ones are rarely crispy like that.

Gah...I had a friggin hard run this morning. It was early, I didnt want to be up, I was sluggish, and my allergies were acting up bad. I think mowing the lawn yesterday and being outside while antag blew off the front yard was a bad idea. WW was awesome though. I was down 2.4 pounds! Yay!!!!

Yay MM!

I ran a local 5K this morning - I got 2nd in my age group and beat my previous 5K time by 2:08 with 27:30.  It was overcast and perfect temps.  I probably should have had more water in me but it was a good solid run.  I had a good breakfast but the eating has gone downhill since - pizza &  a donut.  I couldn't get them in my belly fast enough so it was enjoyed.

Leftover pasta for dinner.

Great job, MM and Bolloxd!

I have laryngitis, again. It's really hard to wrangle a toddler when you can't talk.  :eyeroll: Other than that, food hasn't been too bad today. No exercise - we slept in after seeing Tom Petty last night and it was raining this morning, so... eh. Back on the workout wagon tomorrow.

Meri, didn't you have a marathon today? How did it go?

Hi!

My marathon was great.  A little slower than I hoped, but I felt strong, finished strong, and already feel inspired to do this again.  I know I was complaining about feeling fat last week.  I know I'm not.  I didn't feel fat before/during/after the race.   That's a big thing for me, mentally & emotionally.   And I did a GREAT job filling up my glycogen stores for the race.  :D

How was your race, Meri?

glad you had a good race. My race was great and i want you all to be proud of me. i am very self conscious as you know and always wear baggy running clothes (at least shirts) and my pacer shirt was a woman's shirt (i always ask for mens) and it was SMALL, not a small per se, but very fitting on me. I wore it. They told me i did not have to, when i pulled it out of my pacer bag, but i did and i survived. i did not obsess too much over it though i know i won't like the pictures. I did not have a big pacing group like last year, but started with a woman, then spent about 20 miles with 2 guys running together who met in a substance abuse recovery program, the younger one was running his first the other his third marathon, then around mile 19 a woman started running with us and totally recognized me from COLLEGE! she was my crazy roommate's best friend/sorority sister, how weird?????

So antag and I got into a huge argument and were both upset. So how do we react after we calmed down? By going out to eat and then getting ice cream.  :eyeroll:

All in all I think I came out on top on this one because when he got pissed off he smashed his own sunglassses. You would have thouht he would have at least smashed mine.  :d

Caito & Meri - so glad you both had great races!
Debba - ugh, I hope you get your voice back soon.
MM - too bad about the fight, but glad your sunglasses survived.

I've taken some allergy meds earlier but my head is still pounding.  It has been annoying for a few days but today my head feels like it might explode.

Hi everyone.. Haven't been posting much in this thread because I have not been really focusing on my food too much lately, which actually is turning out to be a good thing because since I'm not focusing, I'm maintaining pretty well.  However, I do want to lose 10 more lbs.. so time to start paying a little more attention I think!

I had a race yesterday as well.  A 10 miler with 40,000 people!  It was crazy, but I had a great run, finishing in 1:27:40, which is I think an 8:24 per mile pace?  Last year I ran 1:36 something so a 9 minute improvement!  I've been training well, but I attribute a big part of it to the 12 lbs or so I have lost and kept off since the first of the year.  Running is easier and obviously if you are propelling yourself at a less weight.. you go faster.
Glad I have been doing more strength training as well as muscle processes oxygen much more efficiently than fat.  My shoulders are a little sore as well today so I think I was working hard.
Not that it has anything to do with this thread, but my daughter pr'd at this distance yesterday at 1:20 something.. so it was a good day overall, spent with family and good running friends!

nice work for the MOS family!

It was not a healthy eating weekend for me, b/w our date night on Sat (we went mtb'ing before Mexican but definitely took in more calories than were burnt) and my DD's birthday yesterday.  Now I'll buckle down.

This morning I have to go to the VA to get fingerprinted for a project I'm doing with them -- before I can connect into their network I have to jump through crazy security hoops.  Will definitely run on my lunch break when I return.

I am really effing tired of starting to work out, getting sick, spending a week and a half recovering, starting to work out, getting sick.... I just can't make any progress.

*sigh*

I guess I just don't want it enough?  Fingers seriously crossed that the acupuncture helps.

Nice running MOS!  That is a great improvement.  On the same course I ran 5 years ago I got a 33:52 and yesterday was 27:30, so a similar increase for me too.  It is a great feeling that training has paid off.

Debba - it does seem to be a pattern of you getting sick once you get started into a good workout pattern.  That really sucks.  Have you mentioned it to a Dr ?  They may have some insight as to what is going on rather than it being crap luck.  I have found that, for me, if I'm feeling crap I have to really push myself to workout and it generally does make me feel better....even though I'd rather believe it is easier/better/nicer for me to take it easy.

I'm feeling a little sore today so will just do some stretching, maybe a walk, if I get the chance.  The kids are testing boundaries today....and pretty much every day.  I guess this is the 2 yr old games.

It's allergies - and since I run outside, and we've had several horrible allergy years in a row, working out triggers an allergy attack.  :-\ While it was "just" pollen, I was able to control it with Claritin and a couple of shots off my inhaler right before a run. Mid-December through early April were fine, I was just lazy. :)

The last few months, though, we've had super-high mold counts on top of high pollen counts, and apparently nothing can save me when that happens. I'm going for acupuncture tomorrow and have my fingers crossed that it helps. If not...  :sigh:

And the boundary-testing is huge in our house right now. I don't know how you manage it with two toddlers.

My weekend was OK.  The gym scale was even down a little and it seems way harder to move it than the one at home.  I'm sure it is all in my head.  I did do my lunchtime workout on the treadmill.  Breakfast and lunch were Ok.  I'm eating a lot less, but am not sure I'm eating a lot better which I also want to do.

Diablita, my dd turned 4 May 1 and we had her family party yesterday.  Cake and homemade ice cream which of course I had.  All in all I'm happy with my results so far.

I do admire the running done in here.  I'm in the 30 minutes at lunch camp and cannot imagine running for several hours or even 10 miles at this point.  Something to aspire to maybe...

Cozymum glad to see the scales are moving down for you.  I have issues with trying to eat healthy food so I know how tough it is....I can *usually* limit the amount of junk food I eat, but it is still junk food.

That said, homemade ice cream and cake!?  *drool*  Happy Birthday to your DD too!

There is certainly a lot of inspiring people in this thread, and throughout the entire website, that I'm grateful for.

The kids have been hellions all day!  Both have been demanding to be held, or is throwing EVERY thing, or they are both fighting over the same toy, or chasing each other around the house.  Then to make up for it David just walked over to Rachel and gave her a kiss.... makes me melt.

Happy Birthday to your DD!  It's such a fun age, isn't it?  (Bolloxd, the two's started off tough for us but quickly became great and keep getting better.)
