Thanks, y'all. And meri, yeah, I'm probably going to have to rethink success. Not sure how yet, though. I have so much to lose that I feel like I really need to be working out most days.

Tricia, I'm glad you're feeling better!

meh, i think it is 90% diet, 10% exercise, or some really unbalanced ratio like that.

I know they've done studies on the ratio of exercise to food in weight loss, but I just know from previous experience that I need a pretty decent amount of exercise to lose.

I know that for me personally, it's definitely a crazy ratio like that.

I've mostly stopped reading fitness magazines, because all they do is make women feel bad about themselves (a rant for another day), but I still have a subscription to a couple, so I flip thru them to look for recipes and sometimes fun workout moves.  I was looking thru the Self mag a couple days ago and read about their "Drop 10" diet.  It's amazingly quite reasonable and doable.  I kind of like some of the ideas in it, and it's full of whole foods, yet there is room for a bit of a treat or splurge.  So I kept the mag (I normally toss them in recycle after about 20 seconds of flipping) and I want to read a bit more about it.

Sounds interesting, Courtney - I'll be curious to know what you want to find out. If you want to share, of course. :)

It's definitely all about the diet for me. I will go so far as to say I have to be careful with the excercise component because it makes me STARVING and if I'm not tracking everything I burn through everything I work off... and more. For me to loose- I need to work out for like 2 hours a day at least 5 days a week. THEN my metabolism is so high I almost can't keep weight on... but who has time for that? A little excercise here and there makes zero difference for me.

I thought about clarifying that I know YOU aren't working ocassionally here or there. My comment was more pointed at the (general) recommendation to do 30-45 minutes of excercise 3 days a week. In my life- that does absolutely zilch for me.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying - that 30-45 min/3 days a week? Nope. I need to be working out at least 5 days.

I fond that it really is mostly eating but I can really only get down into my healthy weight range by eating less than 1500 cals a day and working out 1-2 hours a day 6 days a week (with most of those days being closer to 2 than 1). That is how I got down to a reasonable weight last time. It frustrates me to no end because I want to be able to eat treats and not have to spend all my free time working out. That being said I am losing weight right now really slowly on about 1300 cals a day and I am only working out about an hour a day 4-5 days a week (plus 2 miles walking on my commute each day) but I know I have to kick up the exercise if I want to get back down to a healthy BMI (I am 30 pounds above that right now).

yeah, the reality is, i am going to have to cut the calories back some more. ugh. i am running 10+ miles a day, it is really hard to keep it lower, but i know i need to. When i lost most of my weight i was at the gym 2 hours a day on the elliptical and eating around 1100 cals. IT SUCKS.

Absolutely Debba!!  Yay for getting out there!  Enjoy how good it feels to have it done vs. how you would feel if you would have skipped it.

I did some cleaning today, that was my exercise.  Should have done more but I'm still desperate for sleep when the kids nap.  At least my stomach seems to have settled down.  Tomorrow DH is working all day so I'll be wrangling the kids.... they've been in a fighting each other mood lately, hopefully that isn't too bad tomorrow.  I really need to kick my ass back into gear with my push-ups & ab work.

Thanks, Bolloxd - glad you're feeling better! I can't imagine wrangling two toddlers. Just the one exhausts me. I'm in awe of you and other moms with multiples. My mind boggles at the thought.

But what kind of weight were you losing? Muscle? Because 1100 cals is too low. Wayyyyy too low for someone running/working out as much as you. Do you want a smaller number at any cost or to BE smaller but fit? I find running does zilcho for me weight loss wise. I have to be weight training to see any loss (plus watching cals). I think 1400 or so is about my "sweet spot" where I can actually lose and still work out (I eat some of those cals back, though.)

Just got back from a shuffle. Eh, it went okay. Not great, not horrible. At least I went, right?

YES!!! *high five*! :D

Still getting my butt kicked by my DVDs, still eating well most of the time, and still not loosing a fucking lb :argh: :incazzato: I'm working out 6 days a week and have been eating good so I'm not to sure what else I can do :sigh: I'm considering going to 6 small meals a day but I get stuck on the planning and what to eat with that schedule.  Any thoughts from anybody?

So I usually park really far away when I go to Costco, just so I can walk a bit more. So yesterday I had the cart loaded and I actually had to work to get it up a slight hill in the parking lot. Then I loaded about 30 gallons of milk into the car. I'm sore today!

Felt good. Maybe I'll actually run tomorrow.

good job Debba and MM! I wanted to stay in bed, but i was like, no, i have to give Debba a wake up call :D

I did not lose muscle, i was the fittest i ever was at that point and was getting by far the best race times i have ever had. I ate 1800 cals yesterday, and i ran for 70 minutes and 50 minutes yesterday, so probably 6 miles and 4+ miles.

I eat 4 meals a day, sometimes 5, as in i have breakfast in two parts and lunch in two parts, so i basically just divide it in two :D
