Thanks, onawhim. I just need to exercise, and I'm really frustrated with myself. "Just do it" doesn't work.

And meri, 5 AM for you is 4 AM for me -  :yikes: My alarm goes off at 4:50 every day. I take my temp and then roll over and go back to sleep.  :sigh:

I feel you. I absolutely cannot work out in the morning. Even if I do somehow manage to get up (rarely) my runs suck way more and are way harder on me physically in the morning than evening. I dont know what I would do if I couldn't go in the evening.

Evening workouts would be nice, but it's just not realistic. By the time Reid goes to bed, it's 8 PM and that 6-8 time is all we get with him all day. And in a few weeks, it'll be too damn hot to run even at 8.

Yeah, the weather thing sucks for you down there (where are you in TX, btw?).  Have we already asked you about lunchtime workouts?  I am probably just not remembering :)

Getting up in the AM sucks.  No two ways about it.  Do you know anyone (neighbor, friend?) who might want to meet up?  Someone else waiting on me is the only thing that ever works.

Yeah I was going to suggest a group if mornings are your only option.  Only peer pressure or something drastic will get me up that early. TM or gym are not possible either?  I do not mind training in the heat and prefer it to the am for sure.  I like running when it is dark out as well.

I'm in Austin - so it's pretty blazing hot here most of the year.

Lunchtime workouts - there's no gym near me where I can go and hit a treadmill, take a shower, and get back on time. Running outside at lunch would be suicidal, both because of the heat and where I work.

I don't know anyone who'd be willing to get up and go at the same time, sadly. :(

I need a really good time-specific reward, I think. And I can't come up with a goddamn thing I want that badly.

Gym near the house doesn't open early enough. The heat is one thing - 115 in the shade is another.

I meant gym in the evening.  How about something you could do at home like 30DS?  It does not have to be running.  I think you should concentrate on diet and not beat yourself up over missing a workout.   Feeling like you are failing because you can't get up in the morning is shame spiraly and counterproductive at least for me anyway.  I do much better when I accept what I have to work with right now instead of punishing myself for not being the person I think I should.

I think I would buy a treadmill and cram it somewhere in my house.

I already go to the gym to work out with a trainer 2 nights a week. That's really all I can ask for from DH. There's no private space in our house where I could do a video, and no place for a treadmill, either. :( 5 AM is pretty much my best/only option, and I can't make myself do it.

What about going to the gym on weekends?

That would only be two days of cardio. And I'm not sure how DH would feel about it.

I ran 2.5 outside on some hills and 1 mile on the treadmill.  155 push-ups in 8 sets.  Slight panic about the race but feeling good.  I must force myself to eat lunch over the weekend or it won't be pretty.  I've got so much to do around the house but I'm procrastinating!  Ugh.

Meri - sorry you've had such a tough time with the IUD.  You will feel so much better when it is all said & done, I just hope the pain eases for you.
Debba - don't beat yourself up too hard.  Mornings are tough for working out.  Just try to move around as much as possible throughout the day, taking walk breaks, etc.  until you can figure out what works best for you.

I wish we were neighbors.  I'd totally be your accountability buddy.

That godforsaken heat and humidity would keep me inside all the time.  NFW I'd run (outside) at lunch, either!

I don't have any good advice for you.  :(  Just a  cause I'm a hugger.  Wait, is it weird to advertise for an early AM exercise buddy on craigslist or something?  Are there any area running groups?
