that's a lot of tannin-y grapes in that blend!  does it feel grippy?

I had to look up "grippy" :D and no, I don't think this is grippy, I could drink this non-stop. I told my mom about this wine and mentioned that I liked this because it wasn't such an astringent red.

2012 Smoking Loon Cab Sauvingnon is beautiful.  And I don't even like cab sauvingnon.

2013 Mark West Pinot Noir

2012 Casillero del Diablo Carmenere Reserva

it's $17/bottle here, which is justifiably affordable but not one I'm going to use for cooking.

but the Mark West pinot is $21/bottle  :( (however, the Casillero del Diablo is only $14/bottle though, so it makes buying them together justifiably affordable...)

Great recommedations, CG. I do find the Casillero Del Diablo carmenere to be reliably good, and a good sub for the more expensive chianti.

I love Casillero del Diablo

I quaffed a bit of their cab tonight, and it wasn't bad at all.  Thanks, you guys.

in a surprising turn of events, this wine is actually carried by our liquor stores... but it's THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS a bottle!

Decoy is not my favorite, but it's only $18.79 a bottle here.

the mediocre review makes me less worried about what I'm missing out on.  :)

Oh, I didn't mean to call it mediocre.  It's perfectly drinkable and not all that expensive.  But for $35 you can do better.  E.g., Chehalem 3 Vineyard pinot noir, $35.34.

Yes, it's under $20 at our local wine shop.

I was drinking it while making dinner, and thought it was really good on its own that I could drink it all night. It was very fruit forward, and lacked the dreaded tannin. I made some kind of poached chicken with some citrusy sauce, and a pile of greek salad to go with this wine and it was perfect.

the mediocre review makes me less worried about what I'm missing out on.  :)

Ahem. I didn't call it mediocre. I loved it. But YMMV.

see, what I meant was your review was so good that I got excited to see that I can actually buy it, but then I saw it was $35 which made me sad... then radial said it was not his favorite (which it seems I misinterpreted as a mediocre review) which allowed me to feel less sad about the fact that I will not be buying it

Love, love Rias Baixas Albarino. It's what I get when it's in the wine list cause they are hard to come by in our wine shop. It's very light and fruity. Perfect with manchego cheese or sweet olives. Yum! I need to go hunting for a bottle to add to my summer whites.

I just discovered Seaglass, I think it was a sauv blanc. It was quite refreshing. I could have drank the entire bottle. Pretty label too!
