Running / Sunday December 4th or Shattered, I dropped off the podium
« Last post by Fast Eddie on Today at 02:16:14 PM »
Did an Egg Nog Jog this morning. Location was just under an hour Northwest of Toronto at Albion Hills Conservation Area, and the "Hills" moniker was pretty bang on as the course was almost all hills with just some flat areas in the Finish area and parking lot loops. Single course loop for 5Kers and double loop for us 10Kers. 10K Course was short almost a full kilometer due to unsafe footing in one section of the loop, and it was taken out.

Finished just outside the M60-69 podium in 4th place with a 45:19.

I converted to the Samin Nosrat buttermilk brine a few years ago and my dad declared that I am in charge of the turkey forevermore.

Yay, Jan! I was nervous for you remembering a very fatty messy holiday Goose but my mom said it was actually a Capon.

We had a very traditional meal but yum. 20lb bird but with the 3 day dry brine, butter under skin, and spatchcock..delicious. Delicata squash, plain asparagus (weird addition because it had to be used), pear and spinach salad, mashed sweet and white potatoes (I didn't bother with either..we have too commonly at home), and oyster stuffing (so many oysters to pluck out .. soo good).

Amy, how were the brussels?

Sounds wonderful.  When I make turkey, I always stuff a butter compound under the skins. Tastes great and is fun.   :D
I poured the goose fat off at the half way mark, saved it for later, but then added small potatoes to the bottom of the pan.  It wasn't so messy then!

Thanks for the update. Interesting.

Kipchoge now scheduled to run Boston for the first time.

Letesenbet Gidey going for women's world record tomorrow in Valencia, talk of sub 2:10 shape! (she ran 1:02 :50  for the women's half record last year in Valencia). But 2:10 is crazy talk. WR? First sub 2:14, stay tuned!

Yes, how were they?

Unfortunately, I didn't get to try them when they were piping hot from the oven because I had to pick up a friend of mine who had a travel delay. Everyone tells me they were good, but I only got to eat the "warmed in the microwave" version and brussels don't microwave well.

I like to try out one new recipe every Thanksgiving.

Everything I’ve made from Ottolenghi has not just been good, it’s been out of this world so I’m expecting to like it.

Easy 5.75K this morning. Left piriformis really bugged me yesterday. Didn't get a chance for a post run cool down and stretch yesterday, so I blame that.

Looks like Kenya will not face a ban from world competition. But needs to invest heavily in anti-doping testing and programs.

The Kenya scandal is growing, and the AIU (Athletics Integrity Unit) is deciding what to do. There has been something like 50 busts of Kenyan athletes this year (or 50-some are currently suspended for doping). They may get a ban like Russia did in 2015-2016. The connection with Eluid Kipchoge is that three of his sub 2 pacers have been caught, and one or two of his direct teammates/training partners. So it's not looking great right now. There could be a decision as soon as tomorrow.
