6 miles easy at the lake.

Taking the docks out later.  Heavy lifting and an ice bath all at the same time!

16 miles including:

2 mile warm up
13 miles at marathon pace
1 mile cool down

Legs felt very heavy today, missed my pace by about 9 seconds/mile.

Half marathon race.

A new race for me. I normally run a flat half or full this weekend but opted to one closer to family so I could do some visiting. I went in hoping for 1:50 or about 8:24 pace. But 1:55 would be a new season best.

Got to the race site, picked up the packet, some stretching, some warm up jogging, a 5 minute delay do to technical problems with the chip mat, and we're off. First mile 8:28, some hills, but I thought I was going faster. Mile 2 in 8:09, about the same effort, so maybe the marker was off.

Mile 3 and 4 in 8:25 and 8:35, a fair amount of hills, but more down than up. Mile 5 in 8:09, a lot down hill. Mile 6 in 8:59, a lot of up hill. Mile 7 in 8:53, mile 8 in 8:49. We're out of the hills and onto a flat trail that used to be a train track, but my hammies and hips are sore from the pounding and my times go to hell.

Miles, 9, 10, 11 in, 9:38, 9:31, 9:41. I was getting depressed at how hard I was working to get lousy times.

The end is near and I find something left in the tank. Mile 12 in 9:09. We are on a downhill to the finish and I dig deep, mile 13 in 8:13, and the .1 in 54 seconds. Final time of 1:55:38. A new season best by about 40 seconds. I good race, despite how hard I had to work at it.

Good miles everybody.

Waited out the weather to do 9.7 miles in late afternoon. Progression - 30 min at easy effort, 30 min at med, then 30 min med/hard. Pacing went well, didn't rush it the first part, which is usually my issue and leaves me sucking it for last part.
