I get some satisfaction from doing them...but I don't pretend they're fun...being in the red zone for 6.5 (I'm not fast) minutes sucks a dick...
I think it's kind of fun if you're rested beforehand, it's painful but there is a nice endorphin rush at the end.I get a semblance of a runner's high after doing one.
I liken them to holding my breath for 6 minutes while someone beats me
If you really want to hurt, go out for an 800m time trial!
I ran a mile in an all comers meet in Amherst in the 5:15-5:45 group and finished last in 5:38. One of the guys who beat me after the race taunted me for coming in last. Then there was a 2 mile race after that in the middle of the he saw me coming and had a panicked look in his face and he dropped out when I passed.
