It was part of my salad.

I was left....underwhelmed.

That's the key question.  For me, quinoa is just a textured substrate for the flavor of something else.  All by itself?  Underwhelming.

Yeah, functionally quinoa is basically rice. On its own it's not much.

as part of a salad though, I assume there were other flavours, maybe even a zingy dressing... I'm willing to give Newt the benefit of the doubt

I really dislike quinoa, even when it's seasoned.

I think quinoa is like the cilantro of grains.  To some people it just tastes bitter and awful and no matter what you do to it they hate it.
I do not mind quinoa but I do not go out of my way for it.

This, exactly. It was in a salad with other bits I like. Ginger and soy dressing. To me, it added nothing but bulk to the salad. Wrong consistency for me.

I do not think I would like it in a traditional salad, but i have made a quinoa salad, which is quinoa, diced veg, beans and some sort of dressing.

I don't like giving up on foods! I will try it in another recipe and see what I get.

I have made this using quinoa instead of the couscous http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/southwestern-couscous-salad

this is a favorite of mine http://www.katheats.com/recipage?recipe_id=6041374

and a CH favorite! http://www.milkfreemom.com/vegan-quinoa-sweet-potato-chili/

this is good, but not sure you would be able to find all the ingredients http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/2010/10/roasted-cheezy-broccoli-over-golden.html
