what's on the menu for sweetheart day?
« on: February 14, 2014, 06:47:01 AM »
this morning I rubbed some duck breasts with curry powder then sandwiched them in shallot and ginger, and rolled it up tight to marinate... we'll serve with saffron-carrot-currant jasmine rice, and some steamed bitter greens (so long as I can find some; otherwise, some other veg)

We don't do Valentine's day, but this our menu...French Onion chicken with homemade french fries (so baked, not fried.)  I have some groupons I need to use for ice cream, maybe we will get ice cream after dinner (though I doubt it.)

Grilled Ahi, roasted cabbage slices, baked potatoes, and carrot cake with ice cream.

Oh, and bottle of this...

Scout's Odyssey of the Mind competition is tomorrow so we had the team over for pizza and finishing touches.

Now I'm celebrating the balsa wood structure not being over the weight limit.

I believe it was Merigayle who first turned me on to these delights, but here is the basic procedure...

http://wellnessmama.com/5909/roasted-cabbage-slices/

I use crushed garlic, kosher salt, ground black pepper, and smoked paprika.  Any spicing should work, but the garlic and salt base is very good.  push the garlic into all the little crevices... oh man they are so damned good!
