Hey Magic Microbe: possible soy sauce sub for you?
« on: May 17, 2013, 03:24:00 PM »
I saw mention of coconut aminos today and thought of the thread where you asked for non-soy stir fry sauce options.  I couldn't find the old thread though.

Anyway, I don't know that I buy into all of the amino acid health benefits of this stuff, but it looks like coconut aminos are a non-soy version of Bragg's liquid aminos.  I've used the Braggs as a decent soy sauce alternative, so I'd assume that this stuff might be similar.  It looks like it might be kind of pricey, but that might be worth it to have as a soy-free alternative for you.

I use coconut aminos and I like them a lot, they are salty and a good soy/wheat-free replacement for soy sauce.

Possible downside: they are kind of pricy, I think $7/bottle here.

Fish sauce is ok but a couple drops is all one can use before stuff gets too salty and that normally isn't enough.
