Since you said you are always pulling apart the track after playing with it!

I bought a tagine yesterday and I'm so excited to use it. I unearthed a couple of old threads to help me get over my paranoia about cracking it.  :panic:

So exciting! I don't know anything about using one or the dangers of cracking it, but I'm sure you'll do fine and have some fun playing with new recipes! Look forward to updates on the yummy things you make.

I made a chicken stew with preserved lemons and olives. It was amazing! The chicken was moist and flavorful. I'm planning to make spareribs in there next or maybe a veggie stew.

Whoever said preserved lemons was like pledge was right but wrong. They're DELICIOUS!!!

meri, I wanted to make a tvp recipe you've posted before (it's made in a pan w/ bbq sauce and then you grill it, I think?) but now can't find it.  Do you know which one I mean?  Mind linking me?
I tried looking for it on one of your Pinterest boards but man do you have a lot of pins! :)

nevermind, just found it.  though it looks like it needs wheat gluten and not tvp.  I'm not sure where in the market to find vital wheat gluten?

oh the vital wheat gluten ribz? yeah, it is a flour type product. In our market it is often with the flour or the organic bagged stuff like Bob's Red Mill, or in the organic baking section. In my local natural food store it is in with all the gluten free type flours.

You can often find vital wheat gluten in the bulk section of health food stores. Pretty sure WF will have it. It's basically just the gluten from flour. You can make seitan from flour but it's a very long process, as I recall.

and if you need bread flour, you just add 1 tbs of vital wheat gluten to AP flour and you get bread flour ;) saved me some money the other day.

RA- -what was it that you put in your oatmeal to make it more filling? I forget.

Going ot hop on the TM for the first episode of BL if it is on hulu  :fingers:

Wheat bran. I can't remember the proportions though... I think it's 50\50, but I'll check when I get home. Lately I've been making the i-diet hot cereal though, which is farro plus corn bran. That is also really filling, and also meets the 4:1 carb/protein ratio so I eat it after I run too.

This is the first totally back to normal week, so looking forward to getting back on track for real.

thanks, I found it at our regular grocery store and was pretty pleased!

I made the bbq seitan recipe from Pinterest and liked/not loved it but I didn't have the nutritional yeast and didn't grill (I broiled it) so I'll try again.

I broiled it too, we do not have a grill. I thought it was yummy. I wonder what you did not like about it. It is one of those dishes that even DH likes! HAHA.

So, I'm back on my diet today. I did a terrible job of planning because I'm STARVING and craving sugar like crazy.  :( Normally this isn't an issue. I think it's because all of my meals are on the lighter side today. Wah.  :(

RA, that always sucks.  :(

I'm doing a weight loss challenge with a variety of people, and the prize is $500.  Have I mentioned that?   :fingers: for me!  It's from Jan to June, so my guess is that whomever can be consistent for that long will win, easy.

I'm doing so much reading right now, and based on some of my food allergy type issues, I'm looking, very hard, at a Paleo type program.  I don't think I could ever be 100%, but it sure makes sense for me based on what I read.  Giving up gluten was so good for my gut, and it seems like the lingering stuff is probably dairy related (sadly).  I gave up dairy for a week or so a while ago, to see, but it was before I was GF.  I should just suck it up and try again.  My friend was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, and she and I had so many similar issues.  I'm seeing the same naturopath/RN as she is, and we are treating my thyroid.  But my friend was telling me that from what she knows, Hashimotos kind of comes on as a result of untreated food allergies (it may be more than this, I'm not sure), and they are treating it for her with a gluten free and dairy free diet.  She wonders if maybe I've just caught all of this before it turned into that for me (she's probably 5+ years older than me).  So anyhoo...  that's kind of what I'm looking at right now.  Not happily, but I'm considering it.
