Courtney, they take pics close-up of your whole body and all the marks on it so that you have a baseline.  Then as you go to your derm screenings, they can compare the worrisome ones to the picture to see if they're changing.

Oh no, meri.  I'm sorry about the stomach bug AND wtf is your scale thinking???

That makes sense!  My DH has LOTS of moles, so I often wonder if either of us would notice if one changed.

I'm surprised it's not more popular, too.  It's probably a cost-of-doing-business thing, but more customers would make it more cost-effective.

When you have enough of a family/personal history to warrant frequent screenings and a lot of things look suspicious, they take a lot of 'bites' which can leave you quite cut up.  The pics allow the derms to take a slightly less aggressive approach, hopefully saving some skin that's not actually needing removal.

Yeah, with digital cameras now, I would think it would cost less, too. It's something worth keeping in mind - I could even have mr. cgraz take pics of my back or something, just so we have a comparison ourselves.

So it's weigh-in day...up 3.2 lbs from last week. So that includes a family dinner on Sunday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. And the day we drove home was kind of a bad food day, too. Considering just the amount of sopressata, cheese, and wine that I consumed, I'm surprised it wasn't more! Not even counting the meals and desserts...yikes. So I guess it could have been worse. Back on track now!

Weeks like that always managed to get me, cgraz, no matter how "good" I tried to be. Great job on being honest with yourself and getting back on track!

Yup, and I didn't try that hard to be good, too.  :D I love that kind of food too much to sit idly by while noshing is going on. I did try to keep it within reason, stop when I was satisfied, and to consciously enjoy all of it, rather than just mindlessly stuffing my face. With three days of celebratory eating and drinking, I knew it would be a gain of some kind.

I'm the same way - I love that kind of food. Forcing myself to eat carrot sticks instead of cheese and potato casserole would kill me. However, I have learned that I don't need *all* the cheese and potato casserole.

Exactly. I might love the Pioneer Woman's twice-baked potatoes, as made by my sister for our Christmas Day dinner, but I can do with one of them (which I cut into small bites, savor, and save for my last bite!), and not two or three.  :d

Yeah, I am so off track right now. I'm going to get back on track next week. I need to eat out less, make better choices, eat fewer sweets, etc, etc, etc. Blerg.

Yesterday was my first day back on track.  I had 1600 calories (all of them healthy except the 300 of beer -- oops), and did a 4 mile run and a 1 round trip walk to the bar.

Now let's see if I can rack up 2 good days in a row.
I don't have time for laundry; I'm trying to have a great life.

I have been totally off track for such a long time that the Holidays actually made it easy to get back on the wagon.  This whole week I have stuck with very simple meals of protein, veggie and rice or sweet potato. My snacks at work apple with peanut butter. I don't even want to think about eating sweets, stuffing, or rich foods.

  :o

I feel better this week after eating simple whole foods. I also managed to get exercise every morning since Thursday. Hopefully I will be able to hang on the trend!!
I have step class this morning, and I usually enjoy it. It is fun and goes by quickly so it is a great way to get the blood pumping in the am. For the rest of the day I am going to prune my roses back.
We have friends coming up for Sunday dinner (simple fare again!) and game night tonight.

Also, I signed up for a class through the experimental college that I think will be a fun challenge. It is called Eskrima. (filipino stick fighting!!) I am very excited about it. It starts the 26th of January...it is supposed to be for all ages, fitness and non experience needed.

Sounds like you're on a roll with the good stuff. :) Can't wait to hear more about that class! It sounds really interesting. Trying something new is a great way to get motivated and energized.

1!  My DH goes to an MMA class that includes Escrima.  He really enjoys that part.  "esgrima" is Spanish for fencing, I'd guess that's where the Philipino word comes from.

Nice work, Mouse! I'm looking forward to returning to routine. I think. Sort of. I need to run today though! It's a beautiful sunny day out there.

I'm quite proud of myself that I ran outside the past two days.  Yesterday in a snow storm and today in 32 degrees with 25 mph winds.  Normally I would find a reason to blow both of those runs off

Ugh. For reals this time... back on track NOW. My running tights are bulgy in places they weren't before.

Today was what I'm going to call a 70% day. Hot cereal & stewed prunes (sounds yucky but actually YUM!) for breakfast, lentil soup and an apple for lunch, cookies and peanut brittle for a snack (30% naughty), 5 mile run, soup, garlic toast (whole grain bread and a tiny bit of butter and a tiny bit of cheese) and 1/2 a fieldroast sausage for dinner. Tea now.

I haven't been running much but have been working out 6 days/week. BUT I've also been eating out way too much.
