omg and DH just emailed me a car at work he wants to buy. it is a tiny little VW golf with 2 doors, just a month ago he was crying about needing a bigger car (he has a forester) and wanted a pickup truck.  :argh: :argh: i was like, is it 4WD? when it snows, i need to go to work and the subaru is the only way i can get there. I am ready to just crawl into bed and wake up tomorrow, except i have to go to work and i have a really busy day, which is good, but i am just tired!

Dude...you are way nicer than me. He has a family now...people don't buy cars that don't fit their family.

Plus a VW Golf...yuck!

What would he do if you took a tougher approach - where you did the hard part, like you already do, but it might mean that she loses her shit for a few nights while you work on it?

And MM, it's not unusual for bridal stores to do that. The alterations are where they make the money, unfortunately. :(

The whole thing just makes me very mad. They make a big deal about having you sign off on the measurements but then the dress comes in so far from those measurements that it isnt even funny. I wanted to go find someone else to alter it but it was going to be expensive because they had to resew the whole damn dress. It was literally falling off of me.

Oh, I'd be pissed off, too. I'm just saying that it's not uncommon, which totally sucks.

i don't think i could do that to her. and she is big enough to get out of her bed and open doors, LOL.

yes, the Forester is like the best and most reliable car, especially in snow. ugh.

MM- that just sucks, i understand you had to pay it, but it sucks.

LOL!!!! By "tougher approach" I mean something like sitting on the floor next to her bed for a set amount of time - even if it's 30 minutes - or reducing the amount of interaction you have with her while she's going to sleep. We've started telling Reid that we'll sit in the chair in his room, but it's time to sleep so we won't say anything except, "I love you, it's time to sleep, put your head down and rest."

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but have you ever watched that super nanny show? She does a lot about bedtimes and reinforcing without talking/giving attention. I think she is a toddler whisperer. I'm sure they never show any times where it doesn't work, and they definitely show the time lapse that it takes a long while, but it seems like it helps if it is done over time. (I realize I may be talking out my ass and you have probably tried that stuff, so sorry if it sounds dumb.)

As for swim skirts or shorts, I just put on some kind of board shorts that dry fast over my regular bottoms.

Why not tri shorts?

I don't have any :)  They would probably work, but I'm not a fan of the pad in those, even as thin as it is...  TMI coming:  I tend to get yeast infections easily, so I shy away from those because the last two times I wore them for something I got one.

Where would I find board shorts?

we don't really have tv, so i have not seen the nanny show. i was thinking about putting the rocker back in her room. oh and DH wanted ME to buy that car, i was like, it is a 2 door, if i wanted a 2 door, i would have never sold my mini, he did not realize it was a 2 door but was all excited it was a TDI and he knows i love biodiesel, LOL

LOL about the car - I can't imagine getting a kid in and out of a car seat with a two-door. I know people do it, but I'd crack my head on the door frame, daily.

That sucks about the sleep issues. If you think the gradual method would work with her - sitting in the chair, moving the chair away from the bed, then out in the hall, etc. - then I'd go for it. But then, I'm awful without sleep.

it was ok in Mini until she was no longer in the infant seat, which was easy to put in and out of the car. I just gave up one day and was tired of putting her in thru the trunk, LOL. I did love that car.

Yeah, I could see making it work with the bucket seat, if you can already strap the kid in before putting it in the car, but not with a convertible.

All this trip planning is making me want to eat. :( I'm not going to, because, well, I can't get anything "good" here, but I really, really want to.

I'm making spaghetti sauce and it smells sooooooo good. Making rice pasta to go with it. Thinking I won't make two pastas, because DH tried my noodles and liked them. YES!

Tricia, I love it when I make a veg dish that I don't think my family will like and they love it.  score.

meri, I have a feeling that if your DH got involved in DD's bedtime a few nights in a row she'd acquiesce.  Are they flying out with you to Badwater?  He must do the bedtime parenting while you're doing overnight runs, right?  Can he string a couple together?

So I went out for a short run in b/w conference calls at lunchtime and twisted my ankle badly.  It was so silly -- I was rounding a turn to my house, looked up and saw DH at the mailbox (just home from a lunch meeting).  So happy to see him I stopped concentrating, foot went off the side of the road and WHAM.  My foot twisted badly, middle is bruised and swollen and I'm scraped and bruised all over b/c of the way I went over sideways.   :-\

Oh no Diablita, I hope your ankle heals soon.  I know it's painful.

Meri, I have no advice for you, both of mine still sleep with us.  My DD who is four informed us last night that she would sleep in her own bed when she is 25.  I told her I thought she might change her mind before then.     I sympathize too as my husband has never done nighttime duty either.  I often sympathize with you because our husbands sounds similar in regard to the kid(s).   :)

Magic Microbe, I'm glad you are still here also.  Don't let those yammerers get you down.  Easy for me to say, I never contribute anything.  I have stuff to say, but am either too chicken or too late usually to comment.   :d

Meri, I'm only kind of joking here, but could you just take off and go to Barnes and Noble or something for a few nights? Make DH deal with it and maybe break the habit with Zoe a little?

Then again, if you're cool with the situation, PLEASE ignore me.

Went to the gym tonight - almost threw up when the trainer cranked up the treadmill, but managed not to. I need to come up with a better dinner for my training nights.

I need to shop for some swimming shorts, because I've officially talked my DH and his cousin into paddleboarding, and I don't need my ass in the air in my my swimsuit bottom.  Have you all had luck with those?  Do they have a liner/panty under them?  I'm going to go check out target/walmart to see what I can find, but I'll probably end up ordering something.
Yay!!!!!
If you can't find anything at target etc try Title Nine online.  They have some cute stuff and they fit well.
