Oh, he'll grab it out of my hands when I'm taking him to the car. :)

It's usually already in the car - DH takes my stuff to my car and backs it out of the garage for me, since our garage clickers are dead. He leaves. I fix my coffee and get breakfast for me and Reid, then we head out the door. If Reid is feeling clingy or lazy, I'm usually walking out the door carrying a travel cup of coffee, my breakfast, Reid's loveys, Reid himself, and any "extras" that didn't make it to the car - today it was Reid's shoes since the thought of wearing them before he got to school caused a meltdown.

I can put a smoothie in a spill-proof cup for me and Reid. I can't put a bagel in a steal-proof container, unfortunately.

Put the pb bagel in your bag before your DH takes your bag to the car?    :D

My smoothie breakfasts are tasty.  I love them.  They keep me full until about 11:30.  If I'm working out at lunch, I'll eat something else, like a banana, to hold me over.  Otherwise, I just go get lunch/eat lunch when I get hungry.

Or, I could just make a smoothie, which is loaded up with fruit and yogurt.

Did I tell you the mason jar thing?

Regular (non wide mouth) mason jars fit right on to most blenders.  I blend mine up in that (it helps me not make too much), and then I don't have extra dishes to do.  I bough some plastic lids for my mason jars (at walmart) and they are PERFECT for taking to/from places.  I actually need to get some more.  I only have 4.  At any given time, one is in the dishwasher at work, one is dirty, one is hiding out in my car (clean) because I forgot to take it in, and the other one inevitably has something else in it (right now it's home made ranch dressing).

It's super cool.  Most blenders are the right size..

My blender ring thing (that holds the blade, and the pitcher screws into it) come off my blender, so I just screw it and the blade right onto my mason jar full of smoothie stuff, pop it onto the blender, and go.  Then when I'm done I wash up the blade/ring real quick and it's all done.

Oh maybe make 3 bagels at a time?  A decoy for Reid, one for DH to take in a bag to the car, and one for yourself incase you forget to put one in the bag.   OR just keep the PB & bagels in your car and make it after dropping of Reid.  Or, yes, a smoothie sounds easier.   :hah:

Mini, glad you're have a such a great day.  Yay for the big accomplishments!
Mouse,  glad the shoulder is feeling stronger.  I know it's been bugging you trying to get the strength back into it.
VP, at least you're out there!  Those walks will be runs before you know it.
Meri, stay away from the scale til after AF because it is all lies!!

We managed 3.2 miles this morning with a friend while my mom watched the twins.  This was her first time babysitting when they weren't actually napping.  All went perfectly fine despite DH's worrying.  I ran an extra 2.8 miles to total 6 for the day.  It was way too freaking hot... I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was, so had to cut it a little short.  Flopped into the pool as quickly as I could fully clothed while being dizzy from the heat.  I'm gonna pop some pain pills and hope for a nap or at least some rest...AF cramps are kicking in now.

David & Rachel have caught yet another cold... lots of snot and some coughing.  I can feel my throat getting scratchy too.  It seems to coincide with the visiting of a certain friend....I may have to start sanitizing them immediately after that visitor.

Ohhhhhh. Dammit, my blender doesn't do that. :) But I usually make a big enough smoothie that I just throw the blender in the fridge and use up the rest the next day.

Aw man!  It might still fit if you wanted to turn your whole blender upside down to screw it on.  :D  Probably not very handy, tho!

I like my smoothies all slushy, so I add crushed ice and water to mine as well, so leftovers wouldn't be for me.  But my whole smoothie making world changed when I learned the mason jar trick!

I wish, but I don't think the ring comes off our blender at all. Bummer - otherwise, I'd totally do that!

Heh.

I need to get some lunch ideas going.  I am eating a qdoba salad every day.  While it's good, I'm getting bored with it and it's not cheap.  Gluten free is the key.  I could bring in my own salads, obviously, but I'm trying to come up with other ideas.

I was thinking baked potatoes, and I could top them with something protein-y.  Chili-like.  I don't know.  I don't like microwaved baked potatoes much, but we have a toaster oven here, so I wonder about microwaving it most of the way and then crisiping it up in the toaster oven.

Can you do couscous? I have a good couscous and chickpea salad recipe at home.

It's not very summer-y, but I make a goulash-type one pot wonder that is SO convenient.

I start with ground turkey in a big pot, then garlic, onions, a can of white beans (or other beans) and a ton of veggies:   chopped peppers, mushrooms, cubed squash, zuchinni, whatever you may have.  The combo of the turkey, beans and veggies is pretty filling.  And you can alter whatever spices you add depending on the theme of the ingredients.   For example, with squash, I like to add sage.  If you did black beans, you could add corn and cilantro and tomato or salsa to make it Mexican-ish.  You can throw diced potato in too if you don't care for baked potatoes.

I *think* couscous is pasta, right?

I also do not like chickpeas.  That's what hummus is made of, right?  I want to like them, I reallllllly do.

I made some lettuce wraps the other day at home, and they were an ok sub for a sandwich, but they were all wet & messy, which doesn't lend itself to eating at my desk, sadly.  This weekend I may make up some chili.  I know it isn't chili weather, but it's easy, healthy, filling, and should be gluten free.  I think.

I had to email my MIL and ask her about food for this weekend.  I didn't want to say anything, but we are staying at their house saturday night, which will include eating at least 2 meals there (supper and breakfast) so I shot her an email telling her about this whole gluten free trial.  I just don't want anyone making a big deal out of it, but I know they will.

This is an excellent idea.  Do you add tomato sauce to your goulash?  My mom makes hers with ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar.  :D  And macaroni noodles, but the potatoes are a good idea.  I could even do sweet potatoes!   Mmmmmm!
