i do not think eating more dairy will help that much. there is an herb you can get at Whole foods called "bone knit" and i would look into that.

so there is this woman who runs Badwater every year, she is a specimen, looks like a female body builder. I said to DH this morning, as unhappy as i am with how i look, i'd rather look like a woman (breasts, curves) than that. It is just so not feminine. So be proud of me for that revelation. And this woman adopted her daughter, i do not know the backstory, but it makes me feel better about my post baby body :D

Last night we had sushi and I found a single cadbury egg at the store. I am now satisfied for the easter season. We have to weigh in today because of the holiday tomorrow so hopefully that goes well.

Today is the day I get back on track, for a week. Grocery shopping is on the list, for sure!

Ideal weight calculation I came across today

(square of your height in cm) x 20 = minimum healthy weight

(square of your height in cm) x 25 = maximum healthy weight

I'm struggling with the terminology here. What does "square of your height" mean? I read that as "your height squared". I read that as (160*160) * 20= 512000 which obviously isn't correct. But... even as the square root of 160, it doesn't work. Can you demonstrate this with actual #'s?

Oh... I found this. Maybe your calculator is missing a step? BTW, this seemed to work out ok for me. So, at my height- it says my max ideal weight is 145. My min ideal weight is 107. That seems about right.

Ideal Weight

The BMI formula can easily be converted to solve for ideal weight. Multiply 18.5 by the square of your height in inches, and divide the product by 703. This is your minimum ideal weight. Now multiply 24.9 by the square of your height in inches, and divide the product by 703. This is your maximum ideal weight. Under the metric system, multiply 18.5 by the square of your height in meters for your minimum ideal weight. Perform the same calculation using 24.9 for your maximum ideal weight. As with BMI, healthy women tend toward the upper end of the healthy range.

So now that I'm trying not to lose weight, I dropped 1.5 pounds without trying.  Um, where were these results when I was working my ass off?

I guess I'm pleased, but I also don't want to spring for an emergency fitting.

Remember when I was mad at myself for wearing unflattering shorts at the gym?   Well I have 2 pairs of capris from Target that are awesome.  They are so flattering.   I usually don't wear them to run, but I've been thinking that I might want to try running in them to see if they would be good to wear during the marathon.   I tend to get chafing problems in my running shorts during really long runs and I just don't want to have to think about that during the marathon.  And also I've done all my training in pants or capris because it's been winter.   The capris I normally run in have a tight waist band and they make me feel fat if I'm not wearing a long sleeve or a jacket.  And I think it will be too warm for all that on race day.  The Target capris are very thin and light.    But I'm worried about my "good" flattering capris getting too worn out.

So today I went to Target and bought 4 pairs of my my favorite capris.  The last 4 they had.   Over $100.

And that my friends is a window into my neurotic, appearance-obsessed, strange little head.   :eyeroll:

caito, that totally sounds like me.  or my sister.

Passover Seder #1 was in my house last night.  I ate a bit too much but not terribly.  I passed on the matzo balls in favor of a piece of matzo -- half with haroset and half with butter.  Tons of veggies (roasted asparagus, caprese salad and I didn't eat too much) and I made quinoa with caramelized onions and mushrooms.  Dessert was plump strawberries with a bit of homemade whipped cream.  And I only had one glass of wine.  Oh and a bit too much of the deviled eggs.

Tonight we're going to a friend's house so we'll see...

Ok, I want to join and am going to try to post faithfully.  Not being able to post at work narrows my window, but I have been very inspired by you guys.  I want to lose 10 pounds by early June for our beach trip.  I started a couple of weeks ago in earnest and have been fairly successful.  I do much better at work than on weekends.

I work 3 days a week and have a gym there so I workout those days.  I'm not very good at fitting workouts in at home except a rare yoga DVD or crunches/pushups, but as some of you said, I didn't see any results on the scale anyway until I started tracking what went in my mouth.  I don't snack that much, but I'm sure my portions are too big so that is where I have started.  Oh and alcohol.  I keep telling myself to save it for the beach.  :)

Hi Cozymom!  It will be worth the effort when you get to the beach and you feel decent in your swim suit.  It was for me!

I have been having a hell.of.a.time getting back to my prevacation schedule of eating and working out. I had been so tired for a week that getting out of bed to run was near impossible, but I finally managed yesterday to get a quick short run in..and it made me feel better. Tis morning DH woke me up at 7am and we had our coffee, a soak and then went to Headwaters for a run. For me.....eating well always follows exercising....so if I can stay on track exercise then hopefully I can get back on track eating.
I think we are having ceviche tonite, with quinoa on side.  DH almost made a prime rib for dinner,  :panic: , which means it would be really hard to practice portion control.

portion control.portion control.portion control.

I hope everyone is doing well...welcome home RA. Mini I hope you are feeling okay...how was playing with the carts? merigayle...you are awesome...in so many ways. deb...hide the grapes before Reid knows they are there! Courtney...you are inspiring me to get back to spinning.

say you are 1.70 m

1.70 x 1.70 = 2.89
2.89 x 20 = 57.8 kg = 127.4 pounds (min.)
2.89 X 25 - 72.2 kg = 159.1 pounds (max.)

(I read about this on a Dutch website, hence the metric calculation.)

132-165lbs for me (5'8")

interesting range. at my racing weight, i was 135-7, and i did not think i was anywhere near the minimum weight, i thought i looked AWESOME. at 165, i feel flabby. At the median (148) i would still want to be thinner than that. and American site said "You should be about 146 pounds, but anything from 126 and 167 pounds is still OK." I'd be thrilled to be 140 at this point.

At first my numbers seemed nutty.  Then I realized I'm 62 inches tall, not 32.

101 to 136 sounds about right, actually.

Ok... Now I get it. It says 118-147. 118 is higher that I would set the min.

Ok, so healthy starts Monday. :-[

It seems to give the same numbers as BMI does.

I think it's the same equation, just algebraically reworked.
