I got 2nd in a 5k again but this time with an official time of 16:59. I didn't follow my race plan and instead set the pace for the first 2 miles and when the other guy made a move I didn't go with him. I'm still happy with the run. Beautiful weather and I got a nice big cold brew afterwards.

Sub 17, nice run! What age group are you?

20 along the Mississippi River with a friend, traversing the banks in MSP. It's a famous run, but first time I had done it. After a very easy 1 mile warm up jog, ran 8:00s.

I'm 38. I think today's age group was 35-39. Before this spurt I haven't run anything close to seriously since I was 17, I would really love to go sub 16 for a 5k.

Congrats kawasa!  :rah:

Ran a Half Marathon in North Bay, Ontario today. About three hours drive north of Toronto. Yes, a bit of a drive, but it was the only half distance that fit into my schedule, and it was almost all highway and a nice drive into Northern Ontario, even though it called for a 4am wake up. Leaves were just starting their fall colour change.

Weather was almost perfect. High 60sF and partly overcast. Route was out and back, 70% paved fitness trail and 30% roadway. Got on site on the waterfront event area an hour before posted start time. Start was delayed an half hour, but spent the time watching the 5K and Kids 1 mile races before we lined up just after 9:30am. Half marathon and 10Kers had a common start. Start had 115 halfers and 102 in the 10K. Pretty good for this small Ontario town.

Start was on the Lakeshore road for a Kilometer before we hit the trails, so runners filtered out quickly into their pace groups, so not too much jostling for space and once the 10Kers made their loop back, it was all single file with 10-20 meters of space between most Halfers.

Hit the half in 54:14 and finished in 1:48:00 chiptime. So a bit of a negative split with inbound into a bit of a headwind. Passed about 5 people on the way back, and wasn't passed by anyone. Able to pass the 40 something gal I was chasing for 8K in the last 30 meters.

Overall 36/115, Male 26/54, M60+ 1/4. Age graded 68.7% or 1:25.11 equivalent.

No AG awards, just bragging rights. Beat the 2nd place M60+ by 10 minutes. Though did celebrate with a double cheeseburger and fries from a popular cottage country roadside restaurant on the way home.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

Congrats on your half Eddie! Excellent pacing.

Kawasa, keep up the good work I bet you can get sub 16 before too long. One step at a time.
