Brooklyn (officially BRKLYN) mile - phase 1
I entered the virtual Brooklyn Mile for this weekend and it should be pretty interesting with entries from throughout the world and maybe thousands of participants, age grading and altitude adjustments, cash prizes for the very top runners and age group awards.
Today I wanted to go 5:25+/- 3 seconds but just didn't have that in the tank. 52 F, cloudy, and N wind of 8 mph. I did an L shaped course, with 0.3 heading north into that wind, but dropping some 20 feet in elevation, and then turning east for the remainder, with about 20 feet drop (rules allow 50 feet).
Result: 5:33 (altitude adjusted to 5:26), so a bit off. Think I'm going to give it another go on Sunday, on the track this time, to see if I can bring the time to under 5:30.
5.5 for the morning, I might do a 30 minute shakeout run this afternoon/evening.
