5k in the wind, but no snow.
I shoveled off the track for a third time last Saturday.
Yesterday's snow fall on the warm, black track melted off in short order,
the fluff that accumulated on the unshoveled areas did drift some.
Still, I had solid footing for the entire run.
Here is a picture of the track after the melt off, 100 meter straight and 50 meters on the turn.
The back corner gets heavy wind so there wasn't much
snow and I went to town and shoveled out to lane 5 in some spots.
16 times out and back plus 200 more meters, deduct 31 seconds for each time I
had to stop and turn around. First 5k of the year in 28:03 while wearing 8 pounds of winter clothes.
After the run I weighted in at under 237 lbs. About 17 pounds ahead of last year.
According to last year's running log the track was clear on march 6th.
So winter is about a month longer this year.
