While I think that if you are determined enough there is always a way, *in general* teens now are more supervised by their parents than teens in the 80s were.

I spent very long periods of time as a teen with any adult supervision, my parents wouldn't even necessarily know where I was. This was fairly common for many (not all) of my peers growing up. I don't think it is as common now.

It's much easier to get laid without pesky adults around.

I don't care about teens or their sex, but how do you feel about the NBA draft, OBE?

Mad posting spree by OBE! :D

I think better awareness and education as well, my peers and I seemed to think it was something we had to get over, a right of passage if you will, not something you think long and hard about.

Where I grew up there wasn't much for teens to do except have sex - particularly if you didn't own a car and/or have a job.
I've been doing this how long?

Awareness about keeping your virginity? Or about the perils of sexual intercourse?

I can assure you that my cohort received a constant barrage of education about the latter. It was the age of AIDS, safe sex was all we ever heard about.

Kids these days are smart enough to lie on silly surveys. ;)

Awareness that it was your body, that it was ok to not follow the herd.  I lived in a small town with a very prominent Catholic communty, aside from the one sex ed day it wasn't mentioned at all, everyone's parents assumed it would never happen.

I think that it's interesting the the percent of female teenagers and percent of male teenagers having sex is more even than it used to be.
Ellen stole my joy and I want it back!
