Damn right Hotel waffles!

Just tried it all out.  Perfect!   :D

The best part... well, after the waffles of course... is the storage.

We got one as a wedding gift... over 35yrs ago..  :yikes:   It still works great.

I've never had a Belgian waffle maker, though. I don't know what it is about that over processed white flour malted waffle mix they use in hotels, but I admit to liking it.  Now I'm all set!

If you ever had the real Belgian waffle, you would never want to eat that stuff.

I can believe that.

I'll do some experimenting of recipes.  I much prefer whole grain anything to overprocessed, but there was a couple of years way back when where I was eating hotel breakfasts on a regular basis.  It's a kind of fond memory thing.  :)

I got one years ago at Kohls for like $5 on Black Friday, last week my husband accidentally broke it. I got the deal at Costco on a new, higher end, one this week.

There is some kind of special sugar they use in belguim for real belgian waffles. My friend went on a trip and she asked them because her daughter loved them so much more than the waffles she makes at home. Lemme go look.

I started making waffles some years ago when Adam was a baby and when I bought a belgian waffle maker (I still have the same one!) Run amok shared some recipes and one is from epicurious. It''s a blueberry waffle with cardamom. It is SO good. I haven't made them in so long because DH didn't like the cardamom but I think i'm going to make them again soon.

huh... I'll check it out!

I'm just getting used to this thing, but the whole grain kit I tried took quite a bit longer to release from the grills.

I'll have to try out some homemade recipes next.

This is it. It's a little involved but they're good. For the oat flour I just put oatmeal in my food processor and processed until it was flour.

This is the recipe I use all of the time though. I just add whatever else I feel like or the kids want. I always make a big batch and freeze them. My kids love chocolate chips added in (of course).

as a kid, I sometimes had a quick variation of the waffle.  You took a regular roll, sliced it in two and made a sandwich with brown sugar and butter.  Then place it in the waffle iron.  I have very fond memories of that.

Recipe please! (We don't have a waffle iron but I bet it would work for pancakes too ... maybe?)

It is the pancake recipe on the Ottos' Naturals (cassava flour people) package. Our local Wegmans just started carrying that brand. This flour has been a life changer for me.

Did it beep like it was raising the dead like at a Hampton Inn?

We have waffles and link sausage for dinner every few weeks.  My kids love it.
