Refuge from reality
« on: November 13, 2016, 07:56:39 AM »
I need a place to get away from the shit show.  How about we try to res-erect this place and post a few photos or vids or whatever?

Someplace I'd rather be... Salido, CO.

People put a lot less effort into picking apart evidence that confirms what they already believe.

Salida? I was there once; it was beautiful!

I'll take Friday Harbor, WA. I love the San Juan Islands :)

Where is Door County? It's lovely!

I'll keep on with islands and go with the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior (Wisconsin):

I'm assuming I can wish a season as well as location, so summer on the big lake! :D

Wow, nice.  I live so close but have never managed to get down that way.
I've been doing this how long?

You should! It's one of my favorite vacation spots. We may go back out that way next summer.

Crater Lake is another of my favorite places:

Door County is east of Green Bay, Wisconsin...on it's left is Green Bay, on it's right is Lake Michigan.  Gorgeous area.

I was nearby this summer... This is on the west side of the UP just south of Copper Harbor.
Is Copper Harbor where the agate beaches are?  My luggage was weighed down with great rock specimens from the sites we visited. Back in 2002, my husband and I did a road trip around Lake Superior. By the end we were road-weary, but it was a spectacular trip! Pictured Rocks in Munising, MI, was beautiful.

I nearly moved to Duluth for grad school, eons ago, and I think I'd have been very happy in that neck o' the woods!

I would imagine so... there are tons of them up there.

I will retry to post that pic.

We stayed in Duluth one night.  Very cool town.  Still, I can't imagine what the winters must be like.

Hey, Duluth has their skywalks downtown, so you can go from one building to another without going out in the cold! :D
I agree, though.
Around here, another place I love to visit, but where the winters might do me in, is Burlington, VT

(Are screenshot pix from my phone too big, or just camera roll pix?  :D I only use tapatalk, and the issue seems to be for non-tapatalk users and related to switching to an iPhone 7. But the photo-posting interface hasn't changed...)
