Potatoes plus butter and sour cream is always delicious!
That sounds disgusting, but I don't like pickles.
I like the idea of dill pickle soup, but I don't like the looks of that recipe. I strongly dislike the texture of soups thickened with flour and often it ends up tasting of raw flour. And for a potato soup, it's ridiculously unnecessary... just puree all or some of the soup.[/soapbox]
Argh! I went to the store and got everything except the pickles.
So I made it and loved it. It reminds me of a New York deli, I was craving a pastrami and Swiss on rye to go with it. I only used 3 T butter because I don't like too rich stuff, I cut the flour down to two T after reading y'alls' comments, and I didn't use any of the added salt. It's plenty salty. I used Claussen pickles and pickle juice.
