Tights
« on: December 30, 2015, 01:55:00 PM »
I have running tights, and their primary function is as a base layer. That is, I wear them under my traditional nylon/gore-tex running pants when the temperature is below, say, 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

I do not like running pants because, among other things, they make a swhooshing noise as the legs cross each other (twice per stride), and also that they feel loose and baggy.

I'm going to experiment with wearing tights under running shorts as my first level of warmth beyond shorts-only.

I'm sure you're all fascinated by this.

I do tights + shorts a lot. I feel like I look silly, but the combination of warmth and pockets is just right.

Running pants come out for  wind, rain, or temps below 20.

Corduroy running pants would be loud.

Just go tights. You can pull it off.

Just tights is a bit outside of my comfort zone, but thanks.  :)

Plus, as LoG said, the shorts adds an element of warmth in an area where it is needed. Without shorts I'd have to look into "wind briefs".

When I lived up north I wore running pants or ran in shorts on the treadmill.

I dislike running pants for the reasons you list. I have no qualms about tights but I am a lady.

Once I was at race and a guy in tights pinned his bib right over his package. I think he was embarrassed to be in tights but boy did he make it worse. He didn't have the demeanor of a guy who did it to be hilarious...

At my age I have no shame.  :moon:  I have spandex tights I wear all the time.  Cold weather shrinkage and wind briefs takes care of of my package.  Yeah, I see a lot of guy wearing shorts over their tights.  I do have some fitted running pants when I need to add a base layer on really cold days.

I just wear tights.
I don't like the feel of running in baggy pants, and I just don't fucking care what people out walking their dogs at 6:00 am think about me.
I mean, these are people that pick up their dog's shit...

That sounds mighty uncomfortable.

I usually run with two guys.  One wears shorts over his tights, one doesn't.  I feel oogy when I see the one guy just in tights.

That is what I thought, too, but he keeps doing it, so...

And "oogy" is a bad thing, right?

My warm tights are all I have ever needed under 20°, under 10° etc.
And it gets damn windy down here at the beach!

Seeing a guy in just tights does not bother me one bit.
